Default March 22nd practice - Ramo starts vs Avs

Lots of the top minute guys were given the day off. Schlemko kind of one of the more notable missing after crashing into the boards hard yesterday.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
No Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler at the #Flames skate this morning. Resting up, I'd think.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
No Russell, Brodie, Wideman either. #Flames

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
Other than the usual suspects not skating, David Schlemko not on the ice. Went hard into the boards in Saturday’s game.

I like Schlemko, he plays the game hard and you can tell he cares. I hope he takes Diaz's spot as the 7th guy next year and we somehow get Smid moved (I love the guy and feel terrible for him but the younger guys will force him out) Schlemko has been a great addition so far and I cringed when I saw go into the boards like that after a great desperate defensive play. I hope he's alright.

The boys were partying hard at Black Betty last night. Might explain some of the absences

Coach was enjoying steak at vintage last night. No partying for him

Personally would have gone with Hiller, but coach knows best.

Wonder if Douglas Murray joins the team now if Schlemko is injured.

Ya, it doesn't sound good for him. Seems like a pretty bad injury and likely hard to fully recover from. I hope he is alright and can have a good life after hockey if his career is over.

If Schlemko is hurt, I guess Potter might slot in before Murray?

Interesting. Would've thought Hiller was in vs the Avs, considering Ramo didn't have a great game vs them last time and didn't have a great game yesterday. So much for goat-status.

At least this should get Hiller fired up vs the Stars.

I think Ramo's been the more steady hand of late. Sure, BOBROVSKY! played great yesterday, but Ramo wasn't to blame for the goals against, really. Bad plays/passes by the D on the first two goals, and weak team D on the OT goal.

If anything, our lack of finishing lately has been an issue--three posts yesterday too is unlucky...But we do need another line to step up the offence if we're gonna get six wins...

Don't think I would go with Ramo as while he was hot for a bit he's kind of reverted to his normal self being unpredictable and inconsistent. Wasn't very good in the Colorado game (or yesterday for that matter) and maybe Hartley is hoping that game is still fresh in his mind.

I like Ramo better, but probably would have went with Hiller for this one.

Hopefully Hartley's call is right.

Good, Brodie and Wideman looked tired in the 3rd yesterday afternoon.

Ramo? Interesting choice -- I wonder what the rationale is, and why it was announced today.

Although it seems like whenever the chips are against Ramo he responds well so hopefully this is the case tomorrow night...

Need either better from Ramo, or need to try Hiller.
Average goaltending is not good enough right now.

Little surprised Hiller's not back in but Hartley's decisions have been pretty spot all year. Hope he shuffles the bottom 9 a little, need more secondary scoring.

I think Ramo performed greatly in the Philly game, some big saves when they were still with in stricking distance and its hard to fault him on that 2-2 goal against the Jackets. Right now my confidence as a fan seems to be more noticeable when Ramo is in net as much as I like Hiller this year. Ramo played some big time games down the stretch last year and I think has the capabilities to do so again down the stretch here. He's earning these starts IMO and with the way Bob has coached this year its hard to argue with his goaltending choices as we have only been completely shelled a handful of times while the rest of the loses have been hard-fought.

Yeah it's really important that they get other lines than the first doing something offensively. That's the single biggest issue right now. Defensive mistakes are going to happen, the goalies are not all stars, but they can get their lines rolling properly again.

Not only a lack of production but also an odd lack of energy. Hopefully Jooris and Byron can come in and inject some life.

This is a huge 2 points for the Flames, so I hope Ramo is on a short leash.
