For those still in wonderment who haven't been reading the thread, apparently he played the puck before both his feet where on the ice coming out of the box.
I had no idea this was a thing (but makes sense) nor did I see the moment he played the puck, so I'm a bit more forgiving of Ball and Hrudey missing it

On the radio broadcast, they also said he came out of the box a couple seconds early, and that Wideman was complaining to the ref about it. I didn't see it myself.
