Congrats Johnny on your 20th! Fantastic rookie year!
Hope to hear about how a small guy like you can not play in the NHL for the next ten to fifteen years.
Pumped by this guy, so quiet in an interview but loves to score, shows some real passion. His skill is unreal.

Johnny Gaudreau is the first Hobey Baker winner to hit 20 goals as a rookie since Chris Drury in 1998-99. Drury had 44 pts in 79 GP with Avs

If my quick research is right, Gaudreau's 56 points is most by a Hobey winner in his NHL rookie season since Neal Broten in 1981-82.

Drury's coach in his rookie year? Bob Hartley, of course.

How come no one is talking Mark Stone for R.O.Y. ... he's put together a strong season as well, statistically... its possible he could end up at the top, points-wise, with a strong finish.

A few reasons.
1) only came on recently
2) no exciting back story ("Johnny Hockey", 19yo kid traded for erat the year before)
3) older and more experience

Just curious, but does the Calder also come with a financial reward?

I'd rather see Klingberg get the Calder than Ekblad.

I don't think the league specifically has a reward for winning the Calder but it could be in his contract that the Flames pay a bonus if he wins. If you remember, he got a big bonus from the Flames for making the All-Star team. Wouldn't be surprised if Calder was also a bonus milestone.

I'd say Johnny has a big chance to win this. The other faves are fading.

Yup.
From capgeek's FAQ:
Quote:
Schedule B bonuses, with criteria and amounts outlined in the tables below, are automatically paid by the league and do not need to be written into an entry-level contract. Schedule B bonuses paid by the league do not count against the team's salary cap.
However, a player and club may agree to any compensation for the Schedule B categories listed blow, provided the maximum aggregate amount does not exceed $2 million. That means up to $2 million can be earned by achieving just one Schedule B bonus criteria (ie. Calder Trophy win). Schedule B bonuses paid by the team count against the team's salary cap.
Following is a list of Schedule B bonuses that are automatically paid by the league and likewise the categories that can be negotiated between the team and player.
LEAGUE-WIDE AWARDS/TROPHIES
Hart, Norris, Vezina, Selke, Richard
Winner: $250,000
Second: $200,000
Third: $150,000
Fourth: $100,000
Fifth: $50,000
Lady Byng
Winner: $150,000
Second: $100,000
Third: $50,000
Jennings
Winner: $50,000 * pro-rated share if co-winner
Calder
Winner: $212,500
Second: $150,000
Third: $100,000
All-Star Team
1st Team: $100,000
2nd Team: $50,000
Conn Smythe
Winner: $250,000

Just for reference, I believe it has been reported that Gaudreau doesn't get any schedule B bonuses from the Flames.

Vladdy Hockey on pace in the Q for an NHLe of 25 points over 82 games in case anyone is wondering.
Not to rag on him personally as he is probably a decent prospect and has a couple of years to catch up, but it was funny when Oiler fans put him on the same level as Gaudreau.

The sky is the limit for this kid... His skill level and vision are very, very rare. He's only going to get better and the players around him are going to do the same. Especially with a guy like Bennett waiting in the wings.
