Why because you feel entitled to know this information? There is not a service level agreement by the Flames where they owe us fans an announcement or a new building by X date. I agree, they put this on our radar too early based on how long it's taken to pull together, so that's their fault, but not having an announcement on a rink isn't them underperforming on what they owe us as a paying or even non paying fan base. My enjoyment of their product is not impacted by the lack of an announcement on a future development.

Rediculous how entitled some fans feel. It will come when it comes.

It's not about entitlement. It's about eager anticipation for an announcement that's been strongly hinted at over and over and over. The Flames don't owe fans anything regarding an announcement. Just don't keep saying it is only weeks away.

I expect the largest economic factors, from a strictly hypothetical standpoint, in construction costs versus current revenue versus future potential revenue at present value is depreciation and taxation. Favourable breaks in those areas make all the difference. I suppose in reality, depreciation is not on the table anywhere.

You're missing the point. A 3% bump in top line will not offset the negative impact to their bottom line (both personal and the Flames LP) of horrifically low oil prices and a really weak CAD. That's all that posters are responding to.

Are you an STH? I can tell you that from my standpoint the longer they put this off the better, I am under no illusions about how much the ticket prices will increase if you look at the parallels in other cities.

I'll use my entitlements up on being entitled to a winning team. I would say go ahead and say and put it off KK, take your time...

Now BB did make some comments about a new arena helping the Flames be competitive in terms of a better work environment and attracting new players. Those are relevant, but still, no rush, take it easy.

I think people are just super excited to see what the plans are. I'm sure the Flames are just waiting until they have i's dotted and t's crossed.

I split 50/50 but am not overly worried about an increase. I've been expecting it, besides it will be 3-4 years down the road (+/- a few weeks, hey KK?)

^^I see you are a Yankee fan, if my memory serves me right, they really jacked prices up when they moved in the new Yankee Stadium there a few years ago.

I took in a few games in the old barn in the early 90s, now that was quite a place, the whole subway ride in and everything about it was so New York! I remember they only played the Sinatra song when the Yanks won.

It's a great place to watch a game, and you can still get in for a reasonable price.

I went to a game and it was reasonable. We sat in the very back row of the entire place. We had the last laugh though, because it started raining and the top of the nosebleeds is covered

I am not missing the point at all. I am bringing another point into the conversation.

And this is a hockey team, in the hockey business, looking to build an arena to play hockey in.

As others have mentioned, there are a lot more economic factors to this than oil prices - such as low interest rates.

The fact that some people seem to think that the entire economy is dictated entirely by today's oil price is just so over-stated, it's ridiculous.

Anyway I am done with this conversation.

One of the worst posters on this website.

The Jim Rome triple-U could be applied perfectly to everything you post. Unfunny, uninspired and unreadable.

You already have cost this site update tidbits from Muta by telling him to shut up when he was providing what he could.

Now the delays are "unacceptable?" The sense of entitlement is unreal. Personally also wish that news would have come down quicker than it has, but it's obvious that all parties are taking their time to make sure things are done right and not botching it on every turn like Edmonton has. They aren't delaying things just to piss you off. When things are ready to move forward, they will.

So please. Do everyone here a favour. Just go away.

Take this for what it is worth (probably nothing) but I ran into Ken King in the hallway at the game yesterday and I stopped and said "Rumours are any day now, right?" and he said "someone's in the know".

I know he's been saying this for 5 years but good god I want to see this thing, it's like 6 year blue balls for eff sakes.

Another take this for what its worth.... at a season ticket holder reception on the weekend someone asked King about the new area and if it would include a covered football stadium and his response was "I can't talk about it really... but don't stock up on winter clothing".

You may want to bring your cardigan sweater because you'll be 80 before it is built.
