Yes! Actually, City Roads crews operate around the year to keep our roads in good condition... whether dealing with snow or dirt. So, you should be seeing cleaning vehicles out now on key roads to help manage the collected crud: http://www.calgarycitynews.com/2015/...e-weather.html

Dedicated motorcycle parking is scheduled to open on April 1. Here's some information about it: http://www.calgaryparking.com/web/guest/motorcycle
If you do want to book a spot, Calgary Parking Authority recommends you get your name on a list soon. I'm told the Centennial Parkade (Lot 54) is almost as capacity for motorcycle parking. Go to ‘Park Online’ to register, or to be put on the waitlist, for all parking contracts (motorcycle, car, truck, bicycle, ect) https://parkonline.calgary.ca
Of course, anyone could park their motorcycle in a Calgary Parking Authority lot at any time if they want to pay for a normal car parking stall. So you don't have to wait until April 1.
If you have any more questions you can email: cpacontract@calgaryparking.com

I had asked Bunk this question, but never got an answer...
What is the plan for St Georges Drive between the Science Centre and 8 Avenue N.E.?

I sent a 311 request into the City over a week ago and in relation to my request I have a question. I live on an inside corner lot and I've noticed that the street slopes towards our corner. We have a problem with melt water accumulating in our corner (my house and my two neighbours.) The water pools on the street and on a portion of our sidewalk. Our corner is also well shaded so we still have a good deal of snow and ice. Because of the pooling water it has been very difficult to maintain our sidewalk to be free of ice. I've requested that the city plow the remaining snow out of our corner but nothing has been done.
After looking at things further I've noticed that there are no sewer drains nearby. If I were to make a request to have a sewer drain put in our corner is that something that could actually be done by the city in a reasonable amount of time (ie. before next year?) I'm actually surprised that I haven't noticed the lack of drains before.

I could swear two years ago it was announced that a lane was going to be added on northbound Deerfoot just after Ivor Strong bridge, up to Glenmore. All last summer I waited with anticipation of something happening, but obviously nothing did. Was I dreaming, or did it get put off for some reason?
Kind of a related question as well, perhaps it has somehting to do with my first question. I know that Lafarge's property along there has been sold. Is there any word on what is going to happen in there? Would/could part of it be used for transportation...such as helping fix that whole Deerfoot cluster youknowwhat, or doubtful I'm sure, but possibly new access in and out of Quarry Park?

I heard or read the same thing. I think it was just extending one lane ( the one that currently ends) moving the Anderson lanes over and then reconfiguring the Southland off ramp (go under Southland first in order to exit there) Some land taken away from the dog park north of Southland in order to do that.
I think I asked about it before...no idea whats going on with it though.

I just googled it. As its DF it is a provincial thing. Saw 2 PDFs of the plan (also changing the DF Meadows exit to 2 lanes) There was a community input session back in 2013. And thats all I found. No timeline for anything at all that I could find.

Yeah, the Southland upgrades aren't a City project, and it's probably shelved due to funding issues.
I've heard the Lafarge plant area is going to be turned into commercial property...it would be nice to use this opportunity to upgrade the Anderson/Bow Bottom/Deerfoot interchange but that would cost more than the Glenmore/Deerfoot interchange upgrades so I doubt we'll see it happen.

If you haven't received a response from 311 yet, "escalate" it by contacting your Councillor's office. Have the 311 service request number handy and they can see where it's at and explore other solutions for you. It's very possible that there is an engineering solution that can be done here and that no one has suggested it yet.

My understanding is that it's going to have a bit more of a downtown/urban feel rather than the more small town "main street" feel of McKenzie Towne. I'm not a planner, but I hear that McKenzie Towne, although ahead of its time, has been a real inspiration for many communities. Something on which to build. I hear from the people who live there that they really love it. More on Currie Barracks: http://currieurban.ca/

My request to have the storm drain issue looked at was closed the same day. Does that mean they aren't taking it seriously? I'd be surprised if someone came by that same day to look at things.

Yeah... that's a thing that happens with a few departments (like Roads). Short answer: yes, your request is being taken seriously; no, they haven't actually got to your storm drain yet.
The problem is that The City has developed using different organizational software for different departments and 311 doesn't yet fully work with them. THIS IS GETTING FIXED THIS YEAR! In Roads, for example, when a 311 request comes in and the person on the other end confirms they have received it and added it to the work schedule, it gets marked as "closed" on the 311 system. Yeah, we know that's ridiculous and that's why we've been pushing hard for a fix.
So, it wouldn't hurt to escalate with your Councillor after a while. They can contact Roads directly to see what's up.

Whoop! They finally dropped the walking bridge over Shaganappi in Dalhousie over the weekend. Any word on when it will be open for use? I noticed this morning they hadn't put the walking platform down yet.

Real question is how many 311 app requests do I have to log about the same shoddy light timings before it piques the interest of someone in the roads/signals department?
Semi related note: Pootman's EA mentioned a couple years back they were waiting for new software providers for the C-train at-grade intersections, since the current ones were so terrible. From what I can tell, they remain terrible. Any news on that front?

That's sweet. I grew up in Dalhousie and they've needed an overpass there forever. I assume it bridges kind of the CO-OP parking lot and Northland Mall? We used to jaywalk there all the time. It felt like real life Frogger.

Those plans look great - that would be a huge help to NB Deerfoot. It's so bizarre going through that stretch right now. Three lanes down to two after Anderson, then back up to three until Glenmore, where it goes back down to two. Makes no sense.
I wonder if SB could be dealt with as well too? The two lanes SB after Anderson basically makes Deerfoot un-driveable after 4:30pm.
