I can't believe the shot on this kid. He just knows how to find an opening, flicks his wrists and BAM, it's by the goalie.

I also can't believe he's on the verge of potting 30 as a 20 year old.

Wow.

He's gonna have a 50 goal year. I'm certain.

I wouldn't be shocked if he won the art ross some day. Unbelievable talent.

Easy now. Let's see him start racking up his assist totals by a ridiculous amount before we start with that talk.

Yeah, in a league with Crosby, Ovechkin. Tavares, and McDavid pretty soon, I can't see Monahan ever being close to an Art Ross. Besides theres a better trophy to win, and the way he plays the game, he'll get a shot at tht one one day.

How many art Ross trophies does toews have? Oh right, who gives a ####, Crosby calls him to make sure he's okay with him wearing the "C". That's fine by me.

Not just the point production, he does a lot of little things. Watching the game at the Dome, how many little things he does that vets in the league for 5+ years aren't capable of/aware of.

He's able to slow the game down to his pace whenever he has the puck, whatever he's doing.

But since talking about points, his taking of the pass, while skating at full speed to split the defense, was something most they could do in beer league shinny, let alone at the NHL level....and the second goal, waiting out Reimer before throwing it over him.

Last season, Monahan ended up 70 points behind the league lead. This season, Monahan is only 21 points behind the league lead.

If trends continue, Monahan will lead the league by just under 30 points next season.

I believe Monahan's point production will increase at an exponential rate through his prime - by 30 he should be around 15,000 points in a season or so.

Bennett, being drafted 4th overall which is 1.5 times better than 6th overall, will be scoring 20,000ish.

Monahan's numbers since being told to "play offensively too" by Hartley in January:

16g 10a in 25 games

If he were to maintain that pace out to a full season that's 52g and 33 assists for 85 points.

Hopefully a top 6 forward if he works on his skating.

Here's a complete list of 20 and younger players to score 30 since the 05 lockout:

Ovechkin (52)
Stamkos (51, 45)
Crosby (39, 36)
Toews (34)
Malkin (33)
Kopitar (32)
Bergeron (31)
Skinner (31)
E. Kane (30)

Seguin, Jordan Staal and Tavares all came close with 29. Hall had 27 in 61 games.

I do find it interesting that all 3 Selke finalists last year, Toews, Kopitar and Bergeron, made it and that's the same upper echelon of players that Monahan is compared to.

What a class group of players to be compared with. And I have no trouble believing that Mony can hang with these guys.
