Flames Weekly Rankings TSN vs Sportsnet

Had a look at the Weekly NHL Rankings from both networks, I got so choked with TSN and their stupid analytics under each team that I sent an e-mail to Scott Cullen, asking him why on earth would you pur a non playoff team two rankings above the Flames, also why are you ranking the Flames at 21st, instead of 13, where Sportsnet has them. Typical Toronto Sports Network response from Mr. Cullen was that if I didn't like the stats or the placing of the Flames, then I shouldn't be looking at the weekly placing, but at the overall standings, as he deals in analytics. Maybe he didn't like my comment that the only two stats worth looking at were wins and losses, the rest of the stats were for idiots and not worth recording. Hope TSN loses the rights for the World Juniors as well as NHL games. The standings from Sportsnet are just that weekly standings. As far as I am concerned this analytic crap is just a make work project and is total garbage. Sure hasn't helped the Make Me Laughs win any games has it!!!!

The real "why" here is why your font is so small.

I think you are making too big a deal out of this. Weekly rankings are sports clickbait. If they ranked teams as we all agree they should be ranked then no one would comment on their articles, share them, or tell their friends about them. Your best bet to change the way they do their rankings is to stop reading their rankings.

They are indeed using us to gain clicks, sad really but they don't have much going on at TSN

Flames just need to keep it rolling and make the playoffs then he will look like a fool

Cullen's is 100% related to fantasy stuff....as in Calgary, from a fantasy league, perspective would rank 21st.

Don't ask me how fantasy leagues work and I am not defending him but that's what he is...the fantasy yoda.

That might be why you got the response you did.

TSN already has a Power Ranking for Wins and Losses.

Here's the link http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/standings

I've seen these rankings on other sites too. Are they allowed to copy paste?

Have a laugh at Cullen and enjoy. Compiling Power Rankings and Advanced Stats are what figure-skating judges do between Olympics: practice using a number to quantify how pretty everything looked.

These are opinion pieces. If you don't like the opinions, stop reading the pieces?

Flames Hello Street Pharmacist

I know they are opinion pieces, otherwise I wouldn' t read them, just as I know that you have given your opinion to my rant as I expected people to do. But I am also entitled to giving MY opinion as well which is what I did and will continue to do so as long as I have a tongue in my head, or fingers to peck and find on the computer keyboard.

What I'm saying is not that you aren't entitled to your opinion. I'm saying that these pieces are just some guy's opinion based on stats. If you hate it so much, avoid it. It's simple. I don't read them because they don't really mean anything. If I want to know who has the higher corsi, I can look it up myself

Wins and losses aside, I do miss when power rankings were about which team is hot and which team is not with some actual analysis from watching them play.

If I wanted to google "corsi team stats" I can do that easily thank you very much.

Your choice of text and overuse of emojis reminds me of getting emails from my Grandma.

All that I am saying is that weekly standings can be posted without the STUPID MEANINGLESS stats that don't help a team out in the long run anyway. I was born in the dark, but not last night, so I KNOW enough to avoid reading them, I just find it amazing that Sportsnet can publish weekly power rankings without the use of these braindead pieces of useless information that someone after a dozen beer dreamed up. TSN is definitely off my Christmas Card List after the latest dustup. They're probably just bitter that they lost out on the broadcast agreement with the NHL....
