When I was a kid I had to walk to school up hill, both ways. And soda pop cost a nickel.

This thread derailed the same way the Hunter Smith one did, except that one somehow ended up being about goalies and this one about a dumb hat.

Anyways, Johnny I think would best be suited centered with Bennett. Lots of speed, skill, and IQ on that line. Poirier could perhaps slot in there as well, drooling out how fast a Gaudreau-Bennett-Poirier line could be. Bennett and Johnny seemed to have chemistry as well.

Plus Johnny would benefit with two fast skilled line mates who are also of the tough in your face variety. Johnnys IQ would match well with Poirier.

The thread is the 4 year old draft day thread for our best player.

It's going to go off the rails here and there

I posted this in the Johnny Gaudreau points thread late last night but thought maybe I'd add it here for people that haven't seen it yet.

Here is another great little video on Johnny Hockey I saw on Twitter last night:

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but Ray Ferraro gushes about Gaudreau and compares him to Patrick Kane on Leafs Lunch:

http://www.tsn.ca/radio/ferraro-leaf...-tone-1.228825

At about the 19:40 mark. He also talks about the Flames in general after and mentions how he thinks Monahan is the next Ron Francis.

The panel on HNIC was also talking about Monahan as a Ron Francis comparable iirc last month.

That is huge praise.

It amazing how Gaudreau's arrival this year has in some way overshadowed just what Monahan is doing. Quietly becoming the Flames best forward at 20 years of age, just amazing hands, so smart and although he won't be a bruiser, a big body that can't be pushed around. I'm sure he likes the attention on little JG as well.

But what a fricken steal at #6. Of course it's debatable, and TBD, but he may just end up being the best player out of that draft class. I know, I know, so so early to say that, but it's crazy to think he's this good already and we took him #6 overall.

And I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didnt have white onions because of the war, the only ones you could get was those big yellow ones...

I had realistically hoped that Johnny would have a reverse Monahan rookie season. Bunch of assists and a few goals for a respectable amount of points.

The fact that he is in the realm of 20 goals is as a rookie for the type of player he is, is so impressive.

Strange. Guardian has always been a clutch goal-scorer. He scored at nearly a goal / game in his last college season.
