Oh I know, I was just confused about when anyone said negativity in a thread had anything to do with the game on the ice. Did I miss something?

Apparently two days off during a playoff race makes everyone around here super cranky. This is supposed to be a fun time!

Constant negative presence? I barely post on the Fire and Ice forum (specifically cause it turns into this every time you post something negative about the Flames, which I understand, it's a Flames forum after all, I just can't take the people who take this stuff too seriously). I've only started posting on here more recently cause things are starting to matter.

As for the recent negativity? Call it tempered expectations combined with a frustrating OOT and the Flames constantly falling behind and not controlling an entire game for a little bit now. That type of play scares me down the stretch.

The tiebreakers are great but for them to matter we have to a) be tied and b) continue to hold them.

Either way, negativity doesn't change the end goal for all of us or what I'll be doing game time for the next 16 game nights.

Not that this adds any value to anyone or anything at all but EA NHL has given significant boosts to Hudler Russel and Wideman.

Doesn't mean a thing but it goes to show that we have amazing underdog players here in Calgary and how they have stepped up in the absence of Mark Giordano is amazing. Their outstanding efforts have really blown me away and shocked the rest of the NHL as they are getting a lot of deserved attention. And it's not just those three players but our entire team that puts heart into the way they play.

Like I said it doesn't truly reflect their value at all, as the game is pretty horrendous itself.

Mooning and Dooming and Polaking can be found in the toilet.

Flames are making the playoffs and it starts tonight with a win.

GFG and STFU.

Speaking of tiresome, it seems all you do is call out other posters and bog down threads with bickering. It does nothing to contribute to the site either

Seriously Polak, not to add onto the onslaught, but you are a self declared pessimist. That doesn't mean 100% of the things that you post have to be negative.

I would be happy if 1 out of 10 posts was positive, but that's not the case. And in an unbelievable crazy season like this with so many positives, it shouldn't be asking too much.

I may be biased because I'm also a skeptic, but if Polak has an honestly held and reasonably based pessimism about the Flames' chances, it's as legitimate as anyone else's honestly held and reasonably based belief that they're going to make it. Hell, I think it's much more worthy of discussion than a lot of the views around here, as a lot are just pie in the sky optimism based on nothing besides rooting for the home team. Not that there's anything wrong with that, per se; if you want to be a homer, go nuts. But ragging on people who aren't all sunshine and rainbows even if they can articulate good reasons for it creates a double standard that no one should be okay with.

"You're not allowed to express negative opinions about our team that are well-reasoned. However, you're encouraged to express positive opinions about our team that are ignorant." That's just crazy talk.

Besides, people are pessimistic for different reasons... some people might just be trying to keep their expectations low to avoid disappointment, and conversely, increase enjoyment if the Flames do end up in the postseason. That's totally understandable, isn't it?

Wasn't it this time last year we stomped the ducks like 7-2?

Let's do that

March 12, 2014; so only one day from the anniversary.

EDIT: Though on the negative side, goals from Gio, TJ Galiardi, Cammy, Byron, Backlund (yay), Smid and Knight. So, one of seven goals by someone playing tonight.

Sorry, that might be too pessimistic to say

Just to add one more thing, I'll never post a positive prediction due to superstition. I will either predict a loss or not post at all.

Hard to say what will happen in this game. The Ducks are sitting comfortably at the top of the standings and really don't have much to play for a this point other than getting home ice. Then again, they blew that game against the Canucks the other night, so they might be a little on the ornery side tonight. The Flames on the other hand should obviously be the more desperate team, and I think that bodes well for them. Desperate teams are very difficult to beat, and if the Flames can establish their speed game, keep their feet moving, and avoid standing around watching the play, I think they'll find a way to pull this one out.

Today's game is live on Fox Sports 5 in Australia. You will have to listen to the horrible Ducks PBP but the game will be in HD with no GameCentre time delay.

So is this a win-win or a lose-lose situation?

or maybe a sacrifice to the hockey gods...
