I've backed off the ledge a bit. I still don't like giving up the additional second round pick, but it's not the end of the world. Watched some clips of Bradford and it's pretty clear that he's an upgrade over Foles when healthy. Better arm, more accurate, etc. He's also probably as much or more of a sure things as Mariota at this point, and he ends up costing way less.
Check out the throw at 8:46 mark of this video. It's an absolute laser, and something you would never see Foles do. Also, if you guys are getting annoyed with all the Eagles talk, let me know and I'll start a dedicated Eagles thread for the five or so of us that are on here.

I don't mind the trade when you look at just the QB's and their skill, Bradford is better no doubt in my mind. But, big cap hit for one year and two maybe 3 bad knee injuries. Even with McCoy and Maclin gone we have better talent than Bradford has had so maybe there is something there.
We just have so many holes to fill right now, an oft injured QB was not tops on the list.

Yeah, but I think the amount of holes is why you had to go after Bradford instead of MM. Hopefully they can get Bradford to restructure and free up a bit more cap space. They're sitting with about $24M in cap space at the moment, with Bradford, Maxwell, and Graham accounted for. Have to reserve about $6M for draft and UDFA signings, roster filler, etc. They'll probably want to stash about $7-10M for injuries and to account for the cap dropping next year, so that leaves $7-10M to go after probably two of RB, S, CB, and G. With the draft being deep at RB, it probably makes sense to go after G and S in FA and then grab a CB like Marcus Peters in the first round and maybe someone like David Johnson or TJ Yeldon in the third. Mind you, it could be hard to turn down Gurley if he's there at 20.

I do think you were underrating Bradford a fair bit. To me, it's more about his health than his talent. I think if he's healthy he's right on the cusp of being a top 10 QB in the league.
That knee would scare me to death though.

Eagles reached agreement with former Giants and Seahawks CB Walter Thurmond, per source. Thurmond now teams up again with Byron Maxwell.

Actually, more than a visit for RB Ryan Mathews with he Eagles. He's expected to sign with the team, source says.
Philly is going to have the most talented IR in the league. What the hell Chip? Unlike rube I am still precariously perched on the ledge, staring into the abyss that is these off season moves and the abyss is staring back.
Not a fan of Sanchez being the starter but thems the breaks. Can Bradford's papier mache knee survive the preseason?

I think at this point I'd take Philly's starting lineup. The starting offense for the Ravens currently looks like this:

I'm okay with the Thurmond signing. Don't get signing Mathews at all.
GULP... Ozzie better have something up his sleeve.
The Steelers aren't looking very promising either.
I don't know if Ben has a full season in him and the backups are not encouraging. They need a lot of help at WR. Antonio Brown is their go to guy but the rest of group has almost no experience. Heath Miller and Le'Veon Bell are the most effective parts of the offense right now.
This could be a very ugly season for the Steelers.
Every year there are all these moves, yet is it often the usual suspects in the Final Four.
Everyone traditionally looks at the moves BB makes in the off season and speculates that the Patriots will be taking a step back. Although losing Revis is a bigger blow than just about any FA loss for the Pats in recent years, signing him to that Jets offer would have been extremely prohibitive. Basically would have been no room left on the cap. That said, the Pats have only won Superbowls when they have a good secondary, and there is very little left now that can bring them even close to what they had last year.
Hard to say to Seahawks won't be the favorite in the NFC, while the AFC East is making some huge changes to try and compete with the Pats. I still suspect it will be Pats-Dolphins-Bills-Jets.
Never mind, it's all OK now. Chip's been offered a first rounder for Bradford so it's all cool.
Quote:
Kelly also said he was offered a first-round pick for Bradford this morning, a sign that someone else likes the oft-injured quarterback he traded a cheap starter and a second-round pick for.

In Chip Kelly's press conference he said that today he was already offered a 1st round pick for Bradford from another team. That wasn't to say he's going to use Bradford as a trade piece, but is indicative of Bradford's value as seen by at least one other team.
I might be coming around on this a bit for Philly. Brutal injury history that there is no mistaking for Bradford, but Kelly brought up a good point about numerous other QB's missing significant time to injury and no NFL player has a clean bill of health. If healthy it seems they truly believe Bradford could be an elite guy.
Also rumors have picked up on Murray again even with Matthews in the fold. Murray and Bradford were college roommates.
I like the moves on D although we still need a safety, draft I guess. But the O line needs addressing, starter and depth as well as receiver. We'll see what happens here.
