I'm not even set on a Dman in the 1st round. I'm not ready to pass up on a good forward to go looking for D just because we want a D in the 1st round. We could go ahead and draft 2-3 Dmen in the 2nd round and I would be happy with that.

If we are to assume that Hanifin, Provorov and Werenski were all gone when we pick and we absolutely needed to draft a Dman I would rather look at Kylington, Chabot, Zboril or Roy. I just think that Carlo has a limited offensive skill set and looks to be Steve Stantini like defensive Dman prospect.....not what Im looking for in a 1st round pick.

I'd rather take a Merkley, Meier or Svechnikov if they are available.

I agree. I feel like we still need at least one more impact top 6 forward.

Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Poirier (possibly), 2015 1st round pick.

It all depends how everything pans out though, but its still fun to speculate!

2nd round - Washington pick

3rd round - Flames pick

7th round - Flames pick

9 picks total.

Our 2015 4th rounder was traded to San Jose for T.J. Galiardi.

That one stings. Considering we've had such great success recently in the 4th round (Gaudreau -2011, Brodie -2008)

I love his lists, most lists have almost the same top 30 with players off by a few spots.

I like that he isn't afraid to throw his opinions out there and go against a lot of consensus.

Also a good reminder how little these lists mean to a NHL team. All it takes is one scouting directory that really likes or really dislikes a prospect to throw the whole draft into chaos.

But the Canucks took him so I'd take their scouting with a grain of salt too. They take everyone who falls Shinkaruk, Schroder lol. This one happened while they were picking 6th.

So true. I actually had Virtanen in the 11-20 range.

I'm really keeping an eye on Lawson Crouse. He's been ranked all over the place. Interested to see where he ends up being taken.

Button's list is always interesting because he's not afraid to go against the grain. Will say though that the list I anticipate most every year is Bob McKenzie's, in terms of accuracy.

I decided to look at McKenzie's rankings dating back to the 2008 draft. Here are the average deviations of the actual pick # versus where McKenzie had them ranked, split into 5-pick groups:

#1-5 = 1.14
#6-10 = 2.29
#11-15 = 3.91
#16-20 = 4.60
#21-25 = 6.23
#26-30 = 7.87

His latest list I can find is from January (http://www.tsn.ca/mcdavid-the-unanim...nking-1.193058). Using today's reverse standings and assuming we don't win the cup, we'd pick 15th overall. Using McKenzie's average accuracy + ranking, it'd suggest we're likely taking one of these 9:

Connor C
Bittner LW
Konecny RW
Zboril D
Carlo D
White C
Merkley C
