I'm definately not opposed to the idea during the right circumstances.
But then again, I desperately wanted the team to sign Theo Fleury after his tryout a few years back. Actually, I'm still bummed they didn't do it.

Let's bring glencross and cammy back too. Create a new first line.

There was Iginla vs Regher?
There seems to be two camps here, those suggesting that Iginla will damage our locker room magic and those wanting a cup handed to Iginla due to nostalgia.
I lean to the latter because it would be awesome, he is still good and I don't believe he would roll back into town and change anything. Maybe we had a problem when it was Iginlas boys club but that was just as much on mangement as anyone. He is a good guy and he would mold to the new order.

Yes, I could see a scenario where we bring Iggy back. I don't think it has anything to do with winning a Cup though.

Haha, the butthurt of grown adults hating on someone for creating a QOTD. Grow up.
As for the (very good) question - that now has 4 pages (!!!) worth of answers...
Yes, I'd bring him back if there were a need. In a year or 2's time when we're competing - and more importantly, when other leaders have been established whoever they may be - then yes, I'd do it.

Are you kidding? Bring back Reggie and you can kiss any locker room goodness goodbye when he stars bitching about the D men jumping way up in the play. Let the past be the past.

Ask yourself this... would the Flames be where they are if Iggy was still a Flame and its captain?
I doubt it. When Iggy was here he never bought into what Hartley was selling. We are definitely better off without his "I'll do it my way" attitude.
Not saying Iggy isn't a talented player, but it takes more than talent to win a cup.

The Kings don't activate the D like we do.

This. Same with Reggie. Both these guys had a bulldog my way mentality. We are better without either.

Inginla in 2 years is probably bordering on negative value with his contract. In two years a lot of the younger players (and Gio) will be on new contracts so we will not have the cap space to throw away like we do now.

I don't believe his issue was ever about activating the D, there were 2 things him (and Sarich, who you seem to always forget) said were board support in getting the puck out (rather then leaving the zone too early for the stretch pass), and backchecking.
There isn't room for Regehr here anyways, we already have 2 of his kin so it would only make sense to get him if Engelland and Smid (if he ever returns?) is gone. For this team to be competitive, we need 5 mobile D on this team.

No thank you, we have moved on and we do not need old memories returning to the locker room. Retire his jersey/number, sure no problem, but not as a player.

Emotional baggage, aside, yes. If we're sitting at the deadline, in 2017 with, a hole on the right side, why wouldn't you consider a natural goalscorer like Iginla who can also log PP minutes?

Hopefully the team has better options on the PP in 2017, if they don't they won't be contenders

I have a recurring dream that in 2017 the Avs are struggling and the Flames look like a contender. We bring home Jarome with a deal near the trade deadline and go on to win the Cup with him playing a meaningful role as the 2nd line RW.
Obviously the chances of that playing out are very slim but a man can dream.

One day contract. Retire as a Flame. That is all.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I may be in the minority that I wouldn't mind him back when his contract with Colorado is over. 1 year, 1-2m deal (40 years of age), one last shot at the cup with us.
We've already moved on from him. We are already a new team without him. Seeing him back after 5 years is long enough imo.

If Iggy were to come back I think it would be a much different situation. He would be at the end of his career so right off the bat he would know where he stands on the team, a role player. Second, I'm sure he would realize that the team has it's leadership group in place and he is no longer one of those players. If the team has a strong identity at that point which I'm sure it will I think Iggy would have to fit into that as opposed to the team fitting around Iggy. I think Iggy would understand considering he already had to do something similar in Pittsburgh and Boston and even Colorado to an extent. In that case I'd consider bringing him back if he is still productive and provides a use on the team.
