That's a lot of money for Maxwell for a season and a half or so of full time action. Don't get me wrong, a good athlete and the size on the outside that Carroll and Schnieder wanted. But only got the playing time he got because of Browner's pot smoking snafu a season and a half ago, and by that time, Seattle had improved the past rush, the LB's had developed, and Thomas and Sherman were doing their thing.

Browner (and the secondary in general) the year before that, was left with a lot less help in front of them than Maxwell has had. Time to see if he's able to perform outside of the Seattle 'LOB'.

Lynch signed a "respect" deal as far as $ goes; he is often the quiet MVP most games, and has actually gotten better the last couple years, and I do think he's got a couple years left in him, and is worth the money paid in general.

Seattle also cut Zach Miller. Very productive for Seattle after coming from Oakland, and took a paycut to stay last year. He was a big loss last season when he got hurt, and R. Wilson lost a decent pass and run blocker and his favorite safety valve. Probably could've used him in the big game too...but won't go there again.

Gore will at least mostly get you positive gains, even if they're not big ones.
McCoy drove me nuts last year, hated his play actually. Way to many soft attempts up the middle and to quick to bounce outside. I'm actually a huge fan of Gore and I think he is perfect fit here it is just the age and a lot of mileage on those legs.

Geez, Chris Johnson was shot in the shoulder, stable condition, Jets didn't pick up his option so he hits the market, not that he's been very effective the last few years.

I will bet my house he doesn't even get 75% of the production he got this year with Captain Checkdown throwing him the ball.

Sanchez back to Philly. Gets a big meh from me. Would've rather gone after Locker, but at least Sanchez can get you a few Ws against the lower level teams.

He will be a huge upgrade for the Chiefs though. They have had very little at receiver for what feels like a century. It was by far their biggest area of need, and Maclin is a good player.

Ya, including Broderick Bunkley, Colston, and Byrd. Also released Pierre Thomas earlier in the week (and more to come), and are reportedly shopping Curtis Lofton and Junior Galette (who would be a difficult sell, with that new contract). The Saints have been in similar cap situations the past 4 straight years and always seem to find a way to be players in FA (like going all in on Byrd last year).

Saints also making a play for Falcons LB Sean Weatherspoon, who reportedly will either sign in New Orleans or Arizona. Major injury concerns, as he missed all of last year after playing in only 7 games in 2013. But when healthy, he's shown All-Pro talent.

Sounds like WR Torrey Smith is going to sign with the 49ers.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/r...308-story.html

Will be an upgrade on Crabtree who hasn't been the same after his torn achilles. 49ers desperately need a deep threat receiver who can stretch the field

Darrelle Revis
Not sure it's news at this point, but Darrelle Revis is down to #Patriots or #Jets. Water is wet. Fire is hot.
— Charles Robinson (@CharlesRobinson) March 8, 2015
Odds are pointing towards Revis really staying in New England. The Chargers, Eagles, and Texans jumped at the chance to reach deals with the top cornerbacks on the market. What does this say? No one really thinks Revis is going to be available.
Cecil Shorts, Hartline, the names I've heard for #Patriots WR.. Eddie Royal, Harvin also possible.
— Mike Loyko (@NEPD_Loyko) March 8, 2015

Loyko notes that the Patriots have shown a lot of interest in Shorts in the past, while Hartline has stated a will to take less money to join Tom Brady in New England.

That's interesting that you say that, because I'd be stoked if the Eagles signed Crabtree to replace Maclin. Achilles tears are notorious for taking up to two years to heal fully (see Jason Peters and DeMeco Ryans), but it was concerning to see how far he'd dropped down the depth chart last year. I still think he could put up good numbers in Chip's offense.

I agree he's an upgrade on what you guys have, but I question by how much and if he's worth the cap headache. For the Chiefs' sake, you have to hope that this year was more Maclin than Chip Kelly. Prior to this year he'd never had a 1000 yard season or more than 70 receptions, and that was playing with guys who liked to chuck it down the field. Might sound like sour grapes, but I was pretty adamant before free agency started that I didn't want the Eagles to bring him back at elite WR money.

I could definitely see Crabtree going to Philly. He's still a good WR its just that the 49ers receivers were all the same. Crabtree, Boldin and Stevie Johnson are all possession type receivers that don't have that game breaking speed.

The niners needed to add the deep threat. Crabtree will be good wherever he goes, just wasn't a good fit for what the 49ers need.

Yeah, the one problem I do see with Crabtree is he doesn't seem to get a lot of YAC, which is a huge part of the Eagles' scheme.

FWIW, Braddock was first to report Maxwell and Gore to Philly, and called the Mallett to Houston trade three months before it happened last year, so he's credible.

Kaepernick highly unlikely to be dealt, as the 49ers would eat a $9 million cap hit if they did trade him, and since I doubt anyone is gonna make a big enough offer to make taking that cap hit worth it, odds are he stays. Now that said, this is Florio and he's saying nothing really, but...

At a time when the 49ers are trying to shoot down rumors regarding a possible trade of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the 49ers soon will have another significant issue to deal with.

Some very surprising news related to the 49ers is coming, likely later today, regarding a key player on the team who won’t be on the team in 2015. A formal announcement is expected on Tuesday.

That’s all we can say for now. But when it happens, you’ll be shocked — even though you’re now duly braced to be shocked.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...coming-monday/

My only guesses are Vernon Davis or Patrick Willis.
