Do you really expect to survive shooting yourself in the temple?

If you hold it at a 90 degree angle and pull the trigger, no. And you don't.

But if you hold it at an angle because you're not really committed and it ricochets off your skull, maybe. You might not be thinking "Hey, I'll survive this" but it indicates some hesitation.

Before anyone jumps on me, I'm in no way intending to be flippant; I have a relative who has battled depression and other mental issues for years and survived a suicide attempt. I feel really sorry for the guy.

Well, those guys are old, and Seinfeld first came on the air a couple months after the Flames won the cup.

I actually surprised myself with that.

^^This hurts my brain.

Thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of Daniel von Bargen and Mike F's relative.

the point is if you were really determined to kill yourself, you don't miss with a gun. anyone who survives a self inflicted gunshot wasn't really ready to die

Really? I'm sure many of those who have survived self-inflicted gun shot wounds never intended to survive. I do see what you are saying it's not that cut and dry.

The old lady Jerry stole the marble rye from died a couple of months ago.

Of course, Seinfeld has been off the air for 14 years, and those actors were pretty old when it was on, so it's not surprising that they've been dying. Hell, Jerry himself is closing in on 60 (58 at the end of April).

He didn't miss. He shot himself in the head.

Those of you saying he wasn't ready to die might want to pull out this tidbit: Daniel tells the 911 operator, "I've shot myself in the head ... and I need help."

...

Oh, okay. Now I agree. Maybe he isn't 100% on the whole suicide thing.

Is it bad that this thread and all the Seinfeld jokes popping up are making me laugh my head off?

All the way off? Or did you survive? Maybe you weren't serious about laughing your head off afterall.

He passed away a few days ago. A close friend of Daniel's stated: "I feel a huge wave of sorrow and relief at the passing of this remarkable man"
