I called the wild passing Chicago for 2nd in the division back in December. Never would've expected it in January though

Just goes back to what I was saying earlier. We really remember the last couple of weeks, which were fairly bad

We also have only 2 regulation wins in the last 10, even though Rämö has given us several games with a .93 and better SV5. There is plenty of reason to worry.

But so far they're hanging in there.

And only 8 points back of the Blues and 12 back of the Predators. Second place in the central div is still a possibility for the Wild.

4 points is a lot of ground to make up unless the Hawks go on a losing skid but they do have one head to head and the way the Wild just keep winning it's not out of the realm of possibility. Also all those teams that have Nashville on their schedule once looked difficult but the Preds are slumping bad so maybe not as difficult a schedule.

Pretty deflating to see both the Canucks and Kings tie their games in the last minute of the game but it seems like there isn't a team that is wilting in the race. If the Flames keep winning then it won't matter but any team needing help to get in likely isn't going to make the playoffs.

With LA and Van still having to play against each other three times could be the difference in where teams land.

The Canucks aren't getting 8 free points as they lost a point to the Coyotes. There is no guarantee of free points for the Canucks, just look at what happened against the Sabres.

Not a realistic one. Third place is, though, and hey, what a reward that'd be. "Here you go Wild, good job in the second half, enjoy the St Louis Blues."

More unfair still would be if that happened while the Ducks won the west. "Alright guys, it's been a rough few years here in Nashville, but all our great work in turning this franchise around and into a contender has paid off. Let's go for the cup! Who's our first round opponOH YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME."

for March 2nd to March 5th games involving the Flames, Kings, Sharks and Wild have secured the maximum number of points. 16/16 possible points. 4/4 for each team.

no OOT scoreboard help here

But good news, Jets/Canucks only got 1/6 possible points during the same stretch.

Hence my hesitation to go with the "96 Points" theory.

That probably won't keep up though. It can't, with teams playing each other, but I mean not even close. Except if you're the LA Kings, I guess.

Seriously, f*** that team. Stop being so good.

You know what the biggest piss off of all of this is?

Calgary, Vancouver and Minnesota are the only teams in the race that are truely above .500

LA, SJ and Winnipeg have lost more games than they won.

####.

Nathan MacKinnon is out for the season with a broken foot, so if the coffin wasn't already nailed shut for the Avs, it is now.

Could this have gone any worse for the Flames? I suppose if they had lost in regulation and the Canucks had won in the shootout, but these OOT games seriously need to stop going like this.

The best way to adjust for the Bettman point is to just pretend the shootout doesn't exist.

VAN - 32-24-2 - .552
MIN - 32-22-5 - .542
LAK - 29-21-5 - .527
CGY - 31-25-3 - .525
SJS - 30-25-3 - .517
WPG - 26-21-7 - .481

Or, if you pretend all shootouts are ties,

MIN - 32-22-10 - 74 pts
LAK - 29-22-15 - 73 pts
VAN - 32-24-8 - 72 pts
CGY - 31-25-8 - 70 pts
SJS - 30-25-10 - 70 pts
WPG - 26-21-18 - 70 pts

I hope I just did that math right.

At least Winnipeg is fumbling lately (lost four of last six), which has helped the Flames and Kings reel them back in. Puts another playoff spot in play.
