The best #Flames misery in Boston story was 9-0 loss on Jan 5, 2012. TJ Brodie played a game-high 24:57 and was EVEN. (Chris Butler was -7).
|
Wow, how was Brodie even that night. Nuts. I think it will be a different story tonight. Neither team gets blown out like that game back in 2012.
I predict a 4-3 win by the flames in regulation. I would love to see the Bruins miss the playoffs this season and Florida or Ottawa to jump in there.

I tend to do this too. I start watching the game about a period late, and then skip through all the fluff (anthems, intros, commercials, intermissions, icings etc). I tend to catch up around the middle of the 3rd period, in case it goes into OT or I want to listen to the post-game radio shows.
In the end you cut about an hour of fat from the game, while still enjoying the good stuff. Good times.

Can't do that. Not watching the game live just feels weird to me.

You got it right.
I'll set the PVR and watch from the top starting at 6PM.
Skipping all the commercials and intermissions (I still watch player interviews) the entire game is usually watched in an hour and 10 min or so and caught up to the live feed before the game is actually over.

I wish I could do this, but I just cannot watch a recorded game. Knowing it's not live ruins part of it for me, for knowing others are on the edge of their seats at the same time is part of the experience. This is why I woke up at whatever ridiculous hour it was to watch the gold medal game last year.

I am all about the recorded game on eastern trips. I didn't even start watching the Philly game until 8pm on Tuesday. Skip commercials and intermissions get through a game in a hour and a bit. I just keep my phone away and enjoy

I stream the games from game centre and watch them on my tv, I don't think I can pause it and fast forward at all...would be nice though!

It's March 5th, 19 games left in the season, and the Flames are in a playoff position, right in the heart of a playoff race!
I just got goosebumps thinking about it.
Realistically, I don't think anyone outside Aaron Ward gave them a sliver of a chance to be here this late in the season.
Odds are against us? Who the hell cares. We are playing with house money from this point. All we have to do is keep pulling out points, like the undeserved two we got in Philly, and we could achieve the unthinkable at season's beginning.
C of Red. Deafening Go Flames Go chants. The all day excitement that every gameday brings.
The thing that made '04 so special was that we were true underdogs. Nothing beats that. Even when we were the 8th seed later on, we were an underachieving skill team.
But this team makes '04 look like juggernauts. This could go down as one of the greatest underdog teams of all time.
Gosh darnit I'm excited!
Drop the puck!

Love this post. All I'll say though is to the bolded part, not sure that's true. You take a look at that 04 line up, especially the injured playoff version was just bad. Donovan, Nilson and Niemenan as our 2nd line, those guys barley kept themselves in the NHL post 04 run. The Doors taking regular shifts, Ference on the 2nd pairing. That team was literally punching way way above it's weight, even more so than this team IMO.

Just indoctrinate your kids with Flames propaganda so they beg to watch the games. Flames mobile over the crib and a Johnny Hockey jumper oughta do it.

That's the last goal the Flames scored in Boston. They've been outscored 16-0 in the three games at Boston since.

That is cool that those prospects will be at the game. I like that our management treats them to events like this. Such a great organization.

Don't get me wrong, if its the playoffs or a big game, I'll watch live. But for the vast majority of the season, I don't need to see John Shannon yelling at clouds, or the same Telus/Toyota commercial for the 400th time. And like I said, I tend to catch up by the 3rd period, so if Im right there with you for the finish or OT when things get exciting, as well as any post-game discussion.
Not saying it's for everyone, but I like the efficiency that it provides.
