I think the Facility will be Underwhelming.
The city does not have enough land for something world class.
Ironically, because Edmonton's downtown is already a dump, its easier to demolish buildings.

In any of the rumoured locations, there is plenty of land.

Phoenix' sports area (where the Suns and Diamondbacks have facilities) is pretty sweet and I think takes up less area than the sites I've seen proposed.

Not only that, but land constraints actually force higher quality facilities - underground parking, integrated transit, etc.

Ken King on 95.9 this morning talking about the new project, and how major acts skip Calgary in favour of Edmonton. He doesn't think its because of the arena, in part. That's another discussion but he did confirm:
Downtown location
Bigger than an arena project
Mayor will see it first. Hinted this is imminent
Less than a few weeks away from making it pubic
Take that for what it's worth.

All this really proves is that The Voice of Reason and I both listen to 2 of the most annoying people on radio in the morning.

Agreed. What I'm really curious about though is if it will be packaged with a government funded Crowchild corridor upgrade.

If it's there, it likely will and should.

I'm saying it'll be here as well, it'll kick start the west village revitalization.
Sounds like it'll be a super sports complex with the football stadium moving over.

Who owns McMahon stadium and the land?
I ask, as this could be part of recuperating costs.
