I think this is a fair way to characterize my point. I only come here maybe a couple of times a day, and don't post frequently. I'm not inclined to spam the board with a response to each of the 18 people who disagree with me. I'll scan the responses and if there is one or two that are interesting then I will respond. I'm not overly concerned if people think I'm ignoring them. But if a quick scan of a post reveals a dis-interesting or specious point (or engages a straw man fallacy for instance), then I will probably just skip over it. If I have done that to some users more than once it's not deliberate, and I wouldn't notice their username probably anyway. More importantly, a lack of response on my part doesn't indicate that I have capitulated on some point. You've probably just made a post I don't think is worth me hitting reply and typing.
My point is an ideological one, and so a disagreement on how the law is interpreted is less important to me than whether the action is right or wrong. Modern democracies constantly re-adjust their laws. It's taken us nearly a hundred years to figure out that we shouldn't be throwing people in jail en-masse for possession of a plant, or that we should permit gay people to marry.

You, of all people, should not be accusing others of engaging in a strawman fallacy.
And yes, despite your rather ungraceful attempt to side step it, your silence is speaking volumes. You know you are trapped, but lack the courage to admit it.

I actually have no idea what you are talking about. But you sound butt-hurt. If I haven't responded to your posts or said something offensive to you in the past, then it was not intentional. I read fast and don't look at usernames, so if I've been silent to your points, it's likely I didn't notice or I've chosen to respond to other people.
Forum discussions like this often have a poor signal-to-noise ratio, and so I try to only engage people who have made a point that interests me.

Un-huh. I'll ask again then: would you have a problem if someone called your employer and told your co-workers you raped a pre-teen girl?

lol...I've scanned over this question a few times. Was that always you?
Is this your smoking-gun, silver-bullet debate point. Are you preparing a mic drop gif?
While this definitely falls into the "specious point" category, and normally would not get a response from me - I'm flattered by your persistence and will indulge you. But in the future, I would encourage you to participate in a more fruitful manner.
To wit: of course I would have a problem with it. But no, I do not think there should be a law which provides me recourse in that circumstance.

Don't worry some people just take themselves way more seriously than others.

Interesting. So if you lost your job and your livelihood over it, you feel that the party that wronged you should get off scott free? If that truly is what you believe - and I really doubt it - then you have one of the more effed up moral compasses I have ever encountered in a person.
As to the rest of that, I already knew you were full of yourself. You don't need to belabour the point.

Heh. So you either win the fight, and end up in jail to go with your lost employment. Or you lose the fight, and end up in hospital, then jail, and still lose your employment.
Free speech FTW!

My point is, your sex life, their sex life, it's nobody's business but their own.
Judging by your posts, you're pretty young, so maybe one day you'll grow up.

I wasn't being serious. Just trying to lighten the mood because some people seem to be getting pretty upset over this whole thing. Carry on.

It's published and potentially visible to the entire world (not just his followers) so in Canada for libel it's assumed that harm was done. For slander like in your shouting on the street example then yeah damages have to be substantiated.

Can't thank that one enough.
I hope TSN decides rebroadcasting tweets is an inherently dangerous pastime and stops doing it.
