Diet Coke Slurpees
I read in an article in the Herald on Friday about how someone had gone on a mission to find a Diet Coke Slurpee here in Calgary - and they supposedly found one at a 7-11 on Macleod Trail South. I went to every 7-11 I could find on Macleod Trail, and nobody had one.
Has anyone spotted a place in Calgary that sells either Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi Slurpees?? Every since I read that article I have wanted one... but no luck yet.
Dang it's hot out there...

that's a myth.

Anyways, from what I can recall, diet slurpee's don't exist. It has something to do with the aspartame, how it doesn't freeze right & causes a pretty horrible consistency.

Diet Pepsi Slurpees do exist.... just not sure if they are in Calgary. Check out this link - apparently Calgary is the second highest in Slurpee consumption behind Winnipeg of all places!

I remember a friend of mine was always on the lookout for one as well because he is diabetic so he couldn't drink the regular ones.
He said when he was in San Fransico they were sold everywhere that normal slurpees are sold. Probably doesn't help though..

Best slurpee out there is Orange creamsicle. I've only seen it once, and that was at a Macs.

Aspartame is an "approved sweetener" because of a few greedy and dishonest people who place profits above human life and well-being. With the FDA and our Congress culpable, only an INFORMED and ACTIVE public will affects its reclassification from "food additive" to TOXIC DRUG, and removed from the human food chain.

Aspartame: New Study Renews Cancer Concern, Says CSPI
Consumers & Manufacturers Should Switch to Sucralose Pending Thorough Government Safety Tests
The Food and Drug Administration should immediately review the safety of the artificial sweetener aspartame, and possibly ban it, in light of a new study published in the European Journal of Oncology. The study, conducted in Italy, found statistically significant increases in lymphomas and leukemias among female rats given aspartame. The smallest amount of aspartame (20 milligrams per kilogram of body weight) that caused a significant increase in cancer incidence is in the ballpark of what many people consume. The study also found equivocal results regarding brain tumors.
There is a large amount of supposedly scientific evidence that supports the claim that aspartame (Nutrasweet) is safe -- and a casual web search will likely lead you first to these websites before you go on to what industry labels as "scare" sites. These industry sites were not created to tell you the truth about aspartame. They are propaganda sites trying to convince you that aspartame is safe by making misleading claims and misrepresenting the scientific research. They want to convince you to keep buying their products, and fatten their wallets at the expense of your health and that of your family.
All I know is it tastes like soap. Disgusting.

I personally love coke, that blue stuff, think it might be blueberry, and then more coke on top.

Ah yet another myth; aspartame became popular in the 80s after Nutri-Sweet patented it, because it was the only artificial sweetener invented at the time that did not cause cancer in lab rats.
Aspartame is not a carcinogen
Edit: Btw, Nutrisweet's patent on aspartame expired years ago, so almost every artificial sweetener manufacturer uses it now.
And Troutman, thought that site is interested, none of its links sites any study in a peer review scientific journal. Links only take oyu to other anti-aspartame sites.
Im not defending aspartame, as I hate diet drinks. But I have yet to see any legitimate study show that aspartame causes cancer.

The WORST idea 7-11 ever had, stupid ****ing stuff screwed our machine's up for months, we had a repair man in every week, I hope they never bring them back what a ****ing waste of time. as for Diet Slurpee's the surgar in most slurpee flavors is what freezes, so diet ones don't freeze as well, occasionally you will find'em but they won't be as good as a regular slurpee, atleast not until they find a way to make the chemicals in the Diet products freeze better.
ps. my favorite slurpee is Gingerale, almost a refreshing as a sprite slurpee, but it mixes really well with almost any kind of slurpee

Don't quote my on this one but the Bonavista Max might have a diet coke or pepsi. I was there today getting my regular cream soda slurpee and I noticed either coke or pepsi, i never get them though, but I cant remember if they were diet or not. My brain is telling me they were just from reading this thread, but im not to sure.
...oh and those crystal light slurpees, they were good for a while, but I got sick of them fast.
