Well you have these awesome guns, and you don't often get to use them so it must be really annoying. If it were me I'd be looking to find reasons to use my sexy gun more often, homeless guy, pffft who will miss him?? pew pew pew

Shooting people in the leg/arm/head is all bull#### perpetuated by the media and the movie industry. No police force trains to do that since it's a ridiculous method to stop a threat and the chances of hitting a small target are slim.

This is all very preventable.
They did deploy a Taser and it didn't work. It was also six officers, not nine and two of the six were dealing with detaining another subject.

Apparently one of the officers was wearing a body camera, so it should be interesting to watch that footage.

Probably because the only police shooting videos anyone watches are the ones where the police acted questionably.

I hope they release the body cam footage. I don't have faith they will tho. That will answer all questions.

Exactly. Questionable police conduct are the videos that go viral. I'm sure if you put up every police shooting video questionable or not in the last year and had CP comment on them, there'd likely be a lot of "Yep, that's justifiable" "Oh wow, no you can't do that with police officers they're forced to shoot there, no question" from the so called "anti police" crowd on CP.

I get lumped into the anti-police crowd all the time on CP and yet I'm completely pro-police (at least here in Canada), but to be honest most videos/stories posted here are questionable in nature......that's typically why they're posted here.

This is why I don't watch news down here. I know it ain't all sunshine & rainbows out there, but I prefer not to inundate myself with negative news.

I get enough stress from the Flames

I guess the part that I am struggling with is how the police couldn't overpower the guy. Maybe stereotyping, but I am thinking homeless guy on Skid Row, not something that 4 police officers shouldn't be able to deal with.

Is this a scenario that police don't train for? You'd kind of think that one officer per limb should do the trick.

And if he is that much of a threat, why don't the police officers back up and bark orders at him.

hmmm....so the guy is talking to cops....dives into his tent...comes back out swinging like mike tyson and allegedly tries to grab a cops gun (certainly not out of the realm considering) cop tries to taser him unsuccessfully etc......LAPD or not...this one looks a whole lot like there was no other outcome possible.

So - guy is selling drugs, then assaults another person, then gets shirty with police, attempts to grab their gun and ends up getting shot. Ummm....

In this day and age are non lethal weapons on cops still not viable?

Honest question.

They could have put him in a choke hold...... You can hear the taser being used to no effect in the video. And beating him with their clubs would only result in a police brutality case. Once a perp pulls a gun, or tries to pull the officers gun from them, all bets are off, protect yourself first.

So there have now been 40 posts in this thread and I think 3 of them have been on the victim's side. Not a really big crowd there.
