He's one of only 3 right handed forwards that are capable of playing in the NHL. Jones, Jooris and Shore (he's at least ready to try). He'll fit somewhere, I'm sure.

Maybe he becomes a RW and can play in the top 6 in a couple of years. Very interesting that Treliving said that 75% of his calls were about moving Shore. Makes you wonder what was being offered to us for him.

I guess we don't really know just yet in what we have here in Shore. I am intrigued to see him play for the Flames for more than just 1 game.

Yeah, totally guessing but I bet it was a lot of...

"Would you let Shore go for a 4th?"

"Hey, we're interested in Shore for a late 2015 pick"

"You've got Drew Shore and we've got some guy playing on the 4th line on our farm team, you want to swap?".

Wow, his value should be through the roof then!

I wonder if that means (yes I know 75% is the majority of 100%) that there were more calls for Drew Shore then Sven

Just a point of clarification.

Drew Shore was called up before the trade deadline. He doesn't count to the 4 nonemergency call ups.

He is also ineligible to be sent down to the ahl this season even for playoffs.

That's weird I thought Brad said this counted as one of them on the air

If all the GM's hate the 4 recall rule, why or what is the reason it is around? Seems that every year GM's from around the league curse the rule.

Sorry, I'm still confused. So Shore was called up before the deadline, so we haven't used any of the 4 non-emergency callups. But Poirier, Granlund and Ferland were all assigned to Addy before the deadline, so if any of them want to play with the NHL team for the rest of the year, we have to use a call-up on each of them? (i.e. as of today, none of those 3 are eligible to play tomorrow vs. Philly?)

That's right, but all three of them are eligible to play in the AHL playoffs now as well. Keeping a strong team at that level and building a winning atmosphere with the younger guys will be very valuable in the long run. I think Shore slots in to the injury replacement slot for center and right wing, and will see a lot of time down the stretch.

These were just paper transactions so that they can play in the AHL because of some stupid rule that requires them to be down for the deadline.

That actually makes sense to do it that way if the intention is for him to play at least one NHL game before the end of the season because he wouldn't have been able to be sent down again anyway (without going through waivers, which he wouldn't have cleared). There's no more roster limit after the deadline and now they don't need to burn one of their 4 AHL callups.

I can't help connect the Sven trade and this call up. Given the choice, it seems pretty clear that management contemplated Shore up with the big team next year, but not Sven.

I forgot he was 1 game away from wavier eligibility, call up before the deadline makes much more sense now

Feels like the flames went from playoff push to prospect evaluation mode over night. Expect more minutes from rookies as the season wraps up. Barring some miracles, the post-season dream is dead I think.

Send down Wotherspoon, Granlund, Ferland and call up one guy who was basically on the NHL bubble = prospect evaluation mode?

Competing and evaluating 'rookies' aren't mutually exclusive.

It's a good point. The first one anyway.

I guess the guy is hitting the waiver wire in October just like Baertschi, and maybe he was ready, or almost ready last time, I think I just need someone to better explain the timing of the move, was it a roster space issue that he wasn't up earlier? Glencross in the way?

Shore drew (pun..) a lot of interest today from GMs today. Still am not entirely sure what we have in this guy but judging by that there may be some real potential.

Hope he gets some decent ice time in his next game. I need to get a proper read.
