Even though Gio won't be on the ice, he'll still be the Captain and a leader off the ice. Don't underestimate that.
Plus, all it takes is a hot goalie to make a run during the home stretch (see Dubnyk, Devan). Ramo is playing about as well as any goalie in the league right now -- just need some people to find an extra gear on offence (i.e. not just Bouma).
Playoffs just got a lot harder this year but it'll be that much more sweeter if it does happen.

If you spend your life as a hockey fan pining for the number one pick then your cheering for the wrong team. I hear Edmonton and Buffalo need fans and they actively cheer for the number one pick.
Who gives a crap about Baert, he's done here he's gone he didn't want to be here, he did next to nothing to ear his spot. I do want to see Wotherspoon, but I won't be too broken up if he finishes the year on the farm.
How can you call this a tough year, this has been a great year, an unexpected year with a lot to be excited about.

What are you talking about? The growth of this team has been exceptional this year. It is far from over. Regardless how it ends this year, each and every one of the games this season was instrumental in the growth of the players. Playing meaningful games in March will go a long way to develop the kids, just like all those 42 one goal games last year.

It looks like the first few days he was trying to see if it was one of these play through, it doesn't get worse, have surgery in the off season type injuries.
Too bad.
Really like that we didn't panic today. If we miss the playoffs we are winning the lottery so this season will end great either way. The hockey gods will punish the tankers.

Crappy news. The team has been resilient though, so hopefully they can miraculously stay in the playoff race. But this is a huge blow.

This will reduce my stress levels watching the remaining games because my expectation levels have dropped considerably.
At least the 2015 draft will be more interesting with the additional picks picked up today.
