Pouliot and Doumoulin and I would even add in a pick.

only way we move russel is for a massive overpayment.

I'm talking 1st round pick + their best d prospect pouliot..... if they don't have their 1st left (did they trade it for perrorn??) then their best 2 d prospects pouliot + harrington.

Guy wears a letter for the flames, is critical to their top 4, and likely playing top2 mins with gio out, so ask for the moon.

Pouliot + 1st in '16 was the first thing that came to mind.

Russel's cap-hit is beautiful, his play this season has been brilliant. It'd cost the Pens a lot.

If for some reason they trade Russell for picks (highly doubtful), then I hope they start trading lots of vets.

Sounds like Flames would also have to retain salary

Jason Mackey @Mackey_Trib
Another prong to the Russell thing: His cap hit ($2.6 million) is more than likely out of the Penguins' price range.

Can't fault the Pens for trying, especially after we traded Glencross, but the conversation probably went like this:

"Hey, we'd love to have Russell, what do you want for him?"

"We're not actively shopping any of our top four D, and you are asking me to submarine my own team's playoff hopes. So if you want to make a deal, you need to wow the hell out of me."

"Uhh...."

I can't see them trading him for JUST picks. Russell should be a fixture on our blue line for years, so if the Pens want him they should just bend over because that's the only way Russell gets moved.

You would have to listen if Pouliot's name came up.
Russel is a warrior for us now, but we need real warriors tomorrow.

The potential return for Kris Russell would be bigger then Iginla or Bouwmeester. I know, other factors involved but man this deadline is crazy.

If we trade Russell, we might as well trade Hudler and Wideman and burn this thing to the ground. Not going to happen.

Should read his cap hit is ONLY 2.6 million. What a steal Russell is.

The Pens have a few interesting prospects and of course draft picks. We could use those things even though it would really suck to lose Russell. In my mind, the only guys that should be untouchable are those that are under 25, + Gio/Hudler. That's it.

Anyone wants to give a good offer for anyone else, Russell included, than I'd be all for it. Our drafting/scouting has been stellar for the past 4 years, so any picks/prospects that we'd acquire would likely be decent prospects moving forward. That said, it would have to be a top notch offer to entice us to move any of our guys. We are in a playoff race after all. It would take at least 2 top notch assets to move Russell, maybe another beyond that. It would depend entirely on what's being offered.

I really do not see Treliving plucking out essentially ALL of the leadership core in one fell swoop with Gio injured, then Glencross gone and then Russell? Nah, thats bad management.

You guys are nuts. No way Flames trade Russell while they are 3rd in the Pacific.

I wouldn't unless it was a severe overpayment. Something to be said about not ejecting a leadership core that has got the Flames this far.
