The last 2 seasons have been frustrating for me about Glencross's noticeable change of work ethic but I am grateful for the productive seasons and his rugged play over the years as a Flame.
Nice return for the Flames a 2nd and 3rd.
Would not be surprised if the Flames flip 1 or both of these picks in another deal.

Glad Glencross is going to a team where he has a great chance to make some noise. I've always said I'm not a huge fan, but there was no arguing his commitment and passion for the team. I think any team getting Glencross is likely to see on of those scoring streaks that he gets one. Ultra motivated.
For the Flames so much flexibility in the draft, and a deep one at that. The had 4 picks in the top 64 last year, 3 first rounders and four in the top 67 in 2013 and will now have 5 in the top 80 range this year.
That's the way you bolster a rebuilding team.
|
And they have Hudler, Jones, Russell and Hiller as possible deadline candidates next year (not saying they move them all), with Wideman, Raymond, Smid and Engelland the following year (assuming they're all still here, which is a big assumption)

It's like Washington decided their biggest issue was only having one Brooks Laich.

Request for future, when there's a mega rumor thread and then something happens could we please start a new thread? Otherwise I'm waiting through pages trying to find when the trade actually happened and the discussion that followed.

Got a text from a friend asking what I thought about the trade. Had been working all day and didn't know it even had happened!
Good return I think. There should be opportunities to move up/down if they have specific plsyer preferences on draft day. Well done team!

That's quite a good trade Treliving pulled off. I am relieved.

I think it is one of those trades that are great for all parties involved.
I hope it works out well for Glencross and that Treliving can work a bit of magic with the picks.

That's what you think.
There will always be a few posters raging out because we don't trade for a big name. Also a few raging out if we do nothing.

Whoa whoa whoa, buddy-i never said i HOPED he gets hurt. Relax and stop trying to paint me as a jerk. I'm sure Glennie isn't gonna check CP for well-wishes and a positive sendoff man. We're all just talking here. I would wish him well too.

Glencross slots in as the the #5 scoring forward on the Caps roster right now, and the 2nd LW behind Ovechkin.
With Ovechkin's ability to play either wing, I wonder how long it will be before we see Glencross on the Caps top line? Man, I hope he gets that opportunity and tears it up.

I like the trade for both teams but I give the edge to the Flames.. I wonder if the Flames tried to retain salary to bump up the 3rd rounder to being Buffalo's 3rd. That would have been even sweeter.
My guess is that Glenncross steps it up a notch and will be a good addition for the Caps.
