Plays a different game from Engelland, and it depends on WHICH Diaz. Past few games Diaz has played well so I'd say it's close. He has a penchant for harder hits more-so than Diaz, so there's that.
With Diaz, Schlemko and Engelland going against Philly, a cycle of the 3 makes the 5-6 position more stable until one of them owns it.
He'll likely be our #4 for the time being though, with the Russell tie and Gio out.

This is great news!
I have watched David Schlemko have many solid, dependable games vs. the Flames over the years. I believe he is totally underrated and has flown under the radar for Arizona while they kept being a playoff team.
Crazy to me because I remember thinking that when Treliving was hired as GM, that he might acquire David as a Flame.
I am seriously excited about this, I know many Flames fans who don't know who he is will be pleasantly surprised about what we just got. We just upgraded. Perfect 3rd pairing solid, smart defenseman. I have no doubts that he is an upgrade on Smid/Diaz/Engelland/Potter.

In the future I'll try to emulate MMF a little more.
To clarify things, the whole David who? post was meant with a bit of sarcasm because Tim Erixon (Tom Erixon's brother I believe) is available and I think (and so do a lot of others on here) that he would be a good pick up with not much to lose... instead we grab David Schlemko.

Schlemko's logged anywhere from an average of 13-15 minutes per game his whole career. This season, he's logged about 14 TOI/G, which is about 3-4 minutes more than Diaz and Engelland.
Obviously I don't know a whole lot about him, but his minutes suggest he could be paired alongside Russell on the second pairing and eat up some of Gio's minutes.

Yup. They played together. Fun fact : Schlemko, Cam Barker and Kris Russell were 3 of the top scoring d-men in the WHL and all were on the same team.
I rate Schlemko I'm very happy with this claim. Would love to see him work his way up to the 2nd line and play with Russell - moving wideman on the 1st pairing with Brodie. Underrated player who I enjoyed watching for the yotes.
