Default PS4 issue with Pioneer receiver

So I've encountered a strange issue with my PS4 after upgrading my receiver. I used to have an older Harmon Kardon unit and had no problems with it, but needed to upgrade since it only had 2 HDMI outputs and didn't do HDMI audio. I bought a Pioneer unit with full HDMI switching on 6 outputs. The issue now though is that if I power up the PS4 before I switch the receiver to the correct input, the PS4 will hang on a black screen with a flashing blue light until it finally shuts itself off. Then I have to power it back on manually by pressing the button on the front. If I remember to switch the receiver over to the PS4 input it boots up fine

I'm guessing it's some sort of HDMI handshake issue causing the PS4 to hang, but I have no idea how to go about fixing it other than switching to another receiver (which I won't do as it works great for everything else). I also have an Xbox One and it doesn't have any issues booting up regardless of what input the receiver is on. Anyone run into a similar issue like this?

Go into the video settings on the PS4 and change the HDMI DEVICE LINK setting to off.

Heh, I actually did go to do that after reading a bit more online and seeing that mentioned. However it was already set to off in my case. For a giggle I turned it on and rebooted the PS4 to see what would happen, and the issue is gone now. I'm not even going to pretend to understand it, Sony electronics have always been special that way
