Here's what the Kingston press thought of Bennett's first game back:

Just curious if someone who is more familiar with the OHL this season can shed some light on Kingston as a team. With Bennett being back, is the rest of the team good enough to where he could make them a legitimate threat in the playoffs, or will they even make it there?

Hoping they do as a long playoff run would be a great opportunity for Sam and his development.

Only four teams, two in each conference don't make the post season in the OHL and right now Kingston isn't one of those teams. They currently sit 7th in East but the possibility to move up is legitimate. They beat Bellville last night who are in 6th, which puts the Frontenacs one point back. If the Bulls had beat them, they would have been five. The real key is avoid 8th and the juggernaut that is the Osahwa Generals.

Bennett is one of the best players in the OHL and an offensive star. If they can secure the 5th or 6th spot it puts them in a good positive to be hot going into the playoffs and maybe face a team at the 3rd or 4th seed that they can beat.

Draisaitl is a bust.

He produces in the CHL for the same reason that undrafted 20 year old over-agers do. Because he is bigger and more physically mature than the teenagers he plays against.

When you take away even just some of his size and strength advantage (because he's still bigger than a lot of NHLers), he can't even buy a point.

He was force-fed easy offensive zone minutes by a team where he had zero defensive responsibility, and he scored at a 3 goal pace.

Bust.

(Edited to add: I'm about 40% serious)

Even if they do face Oshawa they have beat them 5 out of 6 tries without Bennett and Oshawa has only lost 13 games! Kingston would have a fighting chance against anyone they face this year.

He almost clicked on one of his first shifts when he split the the Bulls’ defence and took a perfect pass from Watson at full speed. Bennett tried to pick the corner on Graham but the Bulls goalie got his blocker on the shot.
I cannot wait until he's doing this to NHL defenders.

Knew they beat them over the weekend but that's pretty interesting, had no idea about the others. Odd to see a team so dominate have trouble with another so low in the the standings.

Just a heads up but the OHL is providing a free trial of their streaming service for Feb 27 and Feb 28. Use promo code OHLLIVE2015

My cousin told me it was blue and black too.

I made her take a color blindness test after that.

She failed it.

Sam Bennett is colorblind.

LIstening to Brad Treliving this morning and found his remark on Sam Bennett quite entertaining.

"Man he was sour when we told him he was going back" " We explained it to him, he understood but he was SOUR!" "He's going to will himself into something special for this team for many years"

Assuming sour = super strong desire to play NHL and high expectations it's all good.

I won't assume sour = bitter at the org.

Both I think. Although bitter at the organization was more a short term in the heat of the moment thing. Uber competitive kids like him won't ever take kindly to being told he's going back.

What amazing timing on this for Bennett fans. Good deal too, don't need to give up credit card info for the trial and you can sign up with a fake e-mail. It's nice to see 'free' mean 'free'.

If he keeps up a 2.5-3pt pace in the OHL for the remainder, I too will be very sour. That should easily translate to a 0.8-1.0 ppg pace in the 'show', something we could have really used down the stretch.

As long as it doesn't fester, fine. I don't think it will considering it's to junior, back to his friends, and not the AHL, like with Sven.
