Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff
New teamates Jagr and Ekblad. Jagr had played 6 seasons in #NHL before Ekblad was born

At least we know that Jagr is well-acquainted with cats.

nice move by the Devils. Add Jagr for nothing and get two picks a few months later. Found money.
I politely agree and disagree. Florida has been rebuilding for years and the poor 5 fans associated to that franchise need to get into dance more than once every decade. Whilst a 2nd and 3rd might be a little steep, Florida is especially young and can handle the loss of these picks. Once in a while, you need to gamble just to get into the dance, never mind winning it.

A little surprised that the Panthers would do this.

Really glad that Treliving didn't.

It's pretty awkward dancing in a group of five people.

Nice return for Jersey but I really hope this helps Florida sneak into that final playoff spot.

Dumbest trade ever by Florida... Giving up two picks yet!

Little did the Flames know, they played last night in the last ever game featuring Jagr as a Devil.

End of a remarkable era.

I'd say the Modin trade was less smart.

Really pumped about this acquisition.

I know, he's old, but the Panthers really needed some more offense and playoff experience in their top 6. He'll be a great fit with Huberdeau and Bjugstad.

This looks like a bad trade from Flames fan's perspective, but when you've made the playoffs twice in the last 17 seasons, you have to take a risk on giving up a NON-1st round pick to try and make it. They're 2 points out, that's it. Like it or not, it's imperative that the Panthers make the playoffs as many years as possible, if for no other reason than to give the fans meaningful games to watch/attend. Every little bit helps in a fickle market. Plus, playoff revenue is a big deal for a team like Florida. The Panthers already have a pretty fully stocked prospect base. Missing a 2nd round pick (traded one of their 2 3rd round picks, so not really missing it), is not a big deal at this point. Making the playoffs and possibly winning a round is more important long term.

New ownership has committed to winning sooner rather than taking the perpetual Coyotes approach. They've been good to their word, and Tallon has done a remarkable job putting together such a competitive team that was 2nd from the bottom last year...and really awful in every way.

I'm so very excited to possibly watch some playoff games here in a few weeks. Not sure if I'll get a Jagr jersey or not though.

Its a conspiracy by the owners and GMs to make TSNs 2 day trade deadline exrtavaganza go away.

Panthers do have loungo in net. like him or hate him he does have the ability to steal you enough games to win a round or 2 in the playoffs.

A bit of me would of loved to add a Jagr Flames jersey to the collection. It's like dating the hot girl from high school when she is 40. She may not help you out at all now, but it's still nice to say you did it.

Not surprising that the Panthers would do this. They have been re-building for years.

They need to start marking the playoffs regularly or Tallon loses his job.

This is all about trying to secure a couple playoff games for Florida. Two playoff games would probably equate to 5-10 regular season home games if they can sell out.

Good move for Florida.

They are done with their rebuild and have their young core in place. They absoultely shouldn't inject any more youth to their lineup or they would be in the same boat as the Oilers.

Although the price is high, making the playoffs would be huge for their young guys.

So does this mean Lou is finally going to start a rebuild in NJ?

It's long overdue.
