sounds like the players don't know:

Roger Millions @RogMillions
#Flames Colborne " everyone knows how important Giordano is. We are just hoping for something good ( news) .

Roger Millions @RogMillions
Colborne - " Giordano is a machine and he never changes" his preparation and approach to the game is second to none."

I think you mean "nature of the Patti that lead to the injury" as we don't yet know the nature of the injury

I get that Gio may be hurt and out for some time but all this talk about possibly folding is nonsense.
Gio is a unreal player and a true captain but missing 1 key piece of your team does not mean you call it quits. You show the kids who have busted their tail all year that you still believe and this is not a 1 man show. Gio was named captain as much for his on ice role as his off ice.
The Glencross chip is still in your back pocket and perhaps you make a push for a player like Tom Wilson from Washington. If you cant replace the skill the flames have lost (which is impossible without hurting the future) then go at it with a different approach and make them extremely tough to play against. Remind Engelland of how he played for the penguins, throw in Tom Wilson who turns into a key piece of the rebuild, Smid is already gritty (whenever he returns), Wideman is a big body.
Brodie / Wideman
Russel / Wilson
Engelland /Smid/Diaz

Edit: Tom Wilson = not who I was thinking of

I will make a emphasis that I know chances drop big time and Gio is irreplaceable however this team is where they are for their character and not skill set. It would be a blow to throw in the towel.

Hail mary $12M (+?) to bring Nicklas Lidstrom out of retirement is probably the only way we'll ever come close to filling that void.

Otherwise... come up on, Wotherspoon.

I think the term you are looking for is "mechanism of injury" how he got injured can speak to the severity of injury (sometimes).

beside the fact that a "Russell / Wilson" pairing would be hilarious: Tom Wilson is a RW, not a defenseman.

I think it was worse than you're making it sound. Check out post #29 in this thread.

That his teammates don't know the severity either is a concerning sign.

sigh.... can't people ever just take the obvious meaning out of something instead of picking at the semantics? Will that ever happen? This isn't a homework assignment ffs.

I literally said wishful thinking. I guess I know what optimism gets around here.

It was a bit confusing to me. What is more confusing to me is who is Patti and how do I know her nature?

quotes sure don't sound good.

Just guessing on my part, but my "back and playing on Long Island" hopes have gone to zero. Just hoping it's out a week and not 4-6

Yeah, I'd be shocked if he doesn't miss at least a couple/few games.

If he's out long term the season could pretty much be over.

I'm envisioning a "Remember the Titans" scenario.

You were not the only one that was confused.

Had he said:

"based on the mechanism of injury I don't think he'll be hurt too bad"

That would make more sense.
