Chevedayoff putting pressure on Trevling.

Very similar teams having a great year( and picked by no one to make the playoffs basically running even for the whole year after a long dry period.

Jets having similar injuries as the 08-09 Flames.

Kane get injured along with all 4 of their top 4 d-men and Chevy fills in with Harrison, find Chairot, Gets Myers and Stafford..... PLUS a 1st pick and 2 blue chip prospects from Buffalo and then Wheeler get tired of playing hurt and Perrault (their UFA signing rather than Raymond) a solid top 6 guy and a day later the get another top-6 filler for a 3rd round pick.

They are rebuilding as they make the push.

Except Chevy is dealing for his job. He isn't putting pressure on anyone ... he's the one under pressure.

Ya, I agree. They are in a different state in their franchise than we are here.

Their rebuild/retooling is a bit different than ours IMO. They have to start winning or Chevy could be looking for work in the off-season. So far it looks like he has made some good moves.

I could see us in a similar position in 4 or 5, we could make some moves to improve our team and future at the deadline. Just not right now.

I should have added something random about Bouwmeester too.

I like the fact that some bodies are moving but the apparent contenders for Glencross are not the teams getting the players. Advantage: Flames.

Ken Wiebe @WiebeSunSports
The conditional pick the #NHLJets are sending to #Canes in 2015 is a 5th rounder if Jets make the playoffs or a 6th rounder if they miss

Thats a good deal for the Jets. Much better than the Winnik deal.

Pretty remarkable the Canes return:

Traded away --> Tlusty/Sekera
Gained --> McKeown, 2015 or 2016 1st, conditional 2015 6th, and a 2016 3rd.

Pretty good return in a day. And most likely continued tanking for McEichel.

As a Jets fan, I really like this trade. We were hurting for forwards, and with Perreault gone for another month, and Wheeler injured, acquiring a reliable forward was a no-brainer. Tlusty should fit in great with the second line until Wheeler recovers.

No chance of that happening. Chevy's job is not on the line. Not sure where you heard that, but the Jets have been slowly but continuously improving since the 2011-12 season. With Chevy as GM, the Jets have an abundance of young prospects that are going to be ready to jump into the NHL within 2 years. He also pulled off the Kane situation.

The only fault you can make with Chevy is his awarding Pavelec a 5 year contract at 3.9 million/year, and not buying him out last year, when it was clear he was a bust. He also drafted Lukas Sutter far too early, and Sutter regressed immediately following the Jets drafting him in 2012.
