A bigger trade with one team, would most likely be with a non-playoff team or not until the offseason.
Both would take Glencross out of the equation.

Maybe, but Glencross + has been mentioned in a lot of the rumours. The Flames also have some prospects that may have hit a glass ceiling in the org.
I agree with the general premise that a pick or prospect is the vastly more likely outcome.

How does Glencross for Brouwer or Green help Washington get into the playoffs?
Maybe its Glencross and Sven for their best prospect and then the Flames turn around and get rental for the rest of the season.
Sven has no spot on the Flames with Gaudreau, Hudler and Raymond already on the team and Granlund ahead of him in the depth chart
I would rather it be Glencross and Raymond and continue the dice roll on Sven.

More Glencross. #caps not only team negotiating, but he will waive. I would think front runner but puts #flames in good spot for best deal.
|
I know the Andrew Walker post has already been posted in here but someone had asked who the Flames may get back in the trade. He responded with:

@FAN590Walker who do you think Calgary can get in a return for Glenny

@cal_sportsnut im not sure. If I'm calgary I want a prospect not a pick. Carrick/barber/galiev/bowey type
|
If anything, it is good that there are lots of teams inquiring about Glencross, a bidding war is exactly what we need.
Glencross + B prospect (Reinhart?) for Madison Bowey would be awesome!

So if I'm reading these ppg numbers correctly, GlenX has been the better ppg player the last 3 of 4 seasons, including this one (where all of CP has said he's terrible?)

I'm not sure that would get it done, but if they had to add a bit more that would be a great trade.

I'd backflip off my desk at work (and likely break my neck) if we traded Glencross and Reinhart for Bowey.
It would take more.

I can't see a Bowey return, unless we sweeten the pot considerably. Can't see Brouwer either, because, umm, why?
Anyone have intel on Carrick mentioned earlier. Young D is all I know.

A high PPG stat is fantastic if the player stays healthy. If you don't what does it prove/accomplish?
Would you rather have a player with a high PPG that is injury prone, or a player with a slightly less PPG that plays almost every game? I know which one I'm choosing.

a. Don't use that name.
b. Yes, better PPG player (usually in years where he couldn't play lots of games). Are you limiting your post to that single stat or did you want to look at all of the other things people said?
c. Does better PPG = better player for you?

5'10", 190-ish lbs. 35 points in 52 gp with Hershey Bears in the AHL. Looks to me to be a Tyson Barrie type.

If we get a prospect for GlenX, I do hope it gets Sven a roster spot on this team for the remainder of the year.
Likely means we'd also have to jettison Raymond or Byron, unless the kid coming back is a defenseman.
I'd like to have closure on Sven and his future on this team by the end of this year tbh.

Most likely. I know the flames scouts were really interested in Bowey during his draft year.
Would you do Glencross + Sven for Bowey?
I think I would.
We have lots of forward prospects (Poirier, Ferland, Klimchuk, Jankowski, Bennett, Arnold, Shore, Hunter Smith etc.) But on defence we have Wotherspoon and Brandon Hickey (who is looking like a great 3rd round pick btw).
Bowey is a big RH dman, which is exactly what we need in the system.

Fresh off being shut out and the team clearly not scoring, AND in danger of missing the playoffs if we don't score (goaltending, defense not a major concern).
Yes, I want points down the stretch unless were getting a much younger player.

I don't think the Flames should have closure on Sven by the end of this year. He has a good chance at training hard this summer and stealing a LW spot next year.
Giving up on Sven this year would be like giving up on Backlund a few years ago.

I probably would, yes. But I'm not sold on Sven and Glencross would leave this team in the summer anyway. If you can grab a d-man with potential like Bowey for those two? Yep, I'd do it.

I've danced with you before on this, I'm hoping / assuming with 30 odd games left both will stay healthy down the stretch.
CP has brought out the pitchforks on an under-producing Glencross, imagine if his counterpart arrives and does less (as his ppg states he may?)

This makes some sense for the Caps since they'd get the LW rental plus a decent LW prospect who can potentially take his place assuming Glencross doesn't re-sign (I suspect he's back out west next year).

One of the biggest culprits for the lack of offense lately is Glencross himself.

Couldn't imagine the Capitals being dumb enough to consider parting with Bowey. His value should be higher than a 1st round pick right now.
However if the Flames could somehow snag Bowey that would be outstanding. He is going to be a top-4 defenseman in the NHL for a VERY long time and his upside is tremendous. He will be a star.
