Why did you decide to go the US account route? I have 3 Rokus all on the Canadian setup and have access to anything I could ever want. When I was running the roku with VPN (unblockus) all I noticed was more buffering and freezes.
Maybe I'm missing something

American Netflix for one?
Is Netflix fast on Roku 3? It is so incredibly slow on my Samsung Bluray I want to kill someone. Thinking about changing.

American Netflix is actually coming closer to Canadian in terms of content. Brazil and other euro country's have great content.
I do use Netflix, however when I can't find what I'm looking for I use plex and stream it from there.
And yes the Netflix app on the roku 3 is very fast

Yeah, still not there though. Especially for TV content. I flip back and forth from time to time. Thanks for the info on it being fast though.

I have an apple tv, but I also have a mac and an iphone and ipad.
I use Plex. I have the plex server installed on my mac, and the plex app on my iphone and ipad. I then use airplay from my ipad to play what I have on my mac.
I use american Netflix. It was super easy to setup on the appletv. Just change the DNS.
I have the remote app on my iphone and ipad as well, and use that to control the apple tv.
I also have the apple tv connected to my stereo for when I play itunes. The optical cable goes to my reciever. My hdmi goes to my tv.
Not saying this is the way to go by any means. Just how I have mine set up. Having the ipad or iphone definitely helps. I also have a number of TV apps on my ipad that I stream from. CBC, NBC, CBS, global, etc.

I have a similar setup with HDMI switching receiver and my Apple TV audio/video through HDMI. Works fantastic for streaming music, pictures, video from our iMac, iPad, and iPhones. If you have several apple devices it's hard to beat apple TV.

I actually got rid of Netflix a while back but one thing I loved about using it on my ATV versus my Samsung Blu-Ray app or using my parents Roku was that in the ATV you could click on a movie, then see the list of actors and search for all movies on Netflix that had that particular actor in it. Maybe that has changed and you can do that with other apps, but that was a big reason I loved using the ATV for Netflix.

I am sure roku app can do this as well but using the apple remote app for apple tv you can type on your phone while searching in netflix on the apple tv. This is way better than trying to use a remote

Yes the roku app lets you send direct to the roku as well. I can search in plex, Netflix, etc then click the little airplay button and it goes to the roku I choose.

A couple months back I became too annoyed with Apple not updating the Apple TV to have an app store, so I swapped out my 2 Apple TVs for Rokus. As my enjoyment of Plex grew I just wanted an interface to use it that was on my TV, not my phone. My biggest disappointment with the Roku was that while the Plex app was solid, it was an old version and uglier than hell.
Today Roku gets the new Plex design that is commonly seen on PS4 and XB1. This may be my happiest day as a Roku owner so far. The design update is simply night and day. The old version was solid, but finding what you wanted seemed to always require a moment or two to think it through.

This is awesome, and way overdue. Skeptical that it will oust RasPlex, but definitely going to give it a go.
