It doesnt take a rocket scientist or a few cherry pickin posters to "told ya so" for me to realize i was wrong with what i thought the return to be. I see that. But my opinion still doesnt change a whole lot, i believe DSP will be a great player. We will have to see in the next few years who won the deal

I find the trade kinda funny from the Canadiens standpoint.

Coach wouldn't play Sekac because he preferred the veterans he had. GM wanted Sekac played more so he trades a veteran.

Fast forward a few months and Sekac gets traded.

Now,they do get another young player in return who can step in and play so, that washes that out, but still funny.

GM: Play Sekac, he's good

Coach: The veterans are a safer bet!

GM: The veteran is gone, play Sekac.

Coach: Dude, we need somebody better Sekac isn't as hot as he was at the start

GM: Yeah, I think you're right.

Well I for one am not embarrassed to admit that I would have liked to see a Bouma, Backlund, DSP line 3rd line on the Flames.

Your opinion can stay the same but the way you present it is what rubs most people the wrong way. You were calling down people saying we could get DSP for Glencross and saying that it would cost the Flames Gio and/or Brodie or Monahan to get him. You over valued DSP and under valued Glencross, it's hard to take things you say seriously because of what you said and how you said it.

That being said, I can see both players doing better with their new franchises.

Good trade for both teams. Not everything is a fleecing, sometimes trades are beneficially for both where there is organizational need. I really liked DSP and wanted him on the flames, oh well, too bad.

You can have your opinions, but your posts come off as condescending and mocking anyone who disagrees with your opinion.

Don't be surprised when people bring them up.

After doing a little bit of research, this seems like a pretty equal trade. I think that it is fine that Sekac seems a bit softer than DSP according to Montreal fans. Montreal could use a tougher player in DSP in their top 6 (if he can earn that sort of spot). I think Sekac's scoring ability and big frame likely fits in well in the middle 6 in Anaheim. I am sure Sekac will learn more about playing defense on the Ducks too, so his two way game should be elevated.

Overall I like this for both teams. Probably not good for us when we play the Ducks again but it does look promising for what return we could get for Glencross, I want a D prospect that is close to making the NHL.

Get it done Treliving!

Interesting that we talk about DSP's future potential, but Sekac is only 4 days older

I can't believe they got DSP for so little. Thought he'd be worth more.

Really? I would have been fine with Sekac for a return on Glencross

Personally, I see DSP and Sekac having pretty much the same upside potential... probably ideal 3rd line players that can contribute some offense.

Me too. I'd take him over a second round pick, just because he's a known quantity with upside, as opposed to an unknown quantity with upside.

Sekac is going to be good. This trade could come back to haunt them.

Apparently Habs fans hate this deal. Maybe I just don't know Sekac.

No, because he seems like a useful third line guy with quite a bit of upside who's been kind of stuck behind good players for ice time. Just seems like they didn't give him enough of a shot - this is basically his first full season. But like I say, I haven't seen enough of Sekac, so that was sort of just a first blush reaction.

DSP's possession stats are pretty mediocre.
