NHL 15 is probably the best game from a gameplay perspective. As someone who only plays HUT and Versus, it's the $60 I payed (over 400 games played).

I actually usually only play GM mode vs the computer, and this is the best game in years for that in my experience. Its a good balance of being hard without feeling cheap, my season is going to be a battle to make the playoffs, which makes it fun. I also feel like I get punished when I don't pay attention to defensive positioning, and feel satisfied when I pull of some good cycling and offensive zone play and get a goal.

I think the criticism at release for lack of modes was warranted and there are huge areas that need improvement, but the on ice game is actually quite good.

Probably the game I've enjoyed the most in single player since the heyday of the 2k series.

When you play GM mode, do you play/sim your games? I'm playing them all. I'm contemplating simming some games.

No I generally play them. Keeps the game playable throughout the year, I actually play in bunches -- play a handful of games one weekend then don't play for a while. I'll be honest, I don't even know if i'll finish a season before the next edition comes out.

The mode really just gives me a bit of structure to play the game when I can instead of just playing a normal versus game. Im not too hardcore into the team management aspect.

That's my issue that I often deal with too. Get only so far during the year.

I'm currently in the playoffs and looking forward to playing Year 2 and seeing how the team is turned over. I hope the trade deadline interface comes back next year. I quite enjoyed that.

I'm in agreement with you. I only ever play GM mode, and I'm having a great time with it. Probably my favourite EA game in many years.

This is a stupid question so I apologize in advance, but....

I couldn't find the GM mode on NHL 15 and thus haven't played in months. Was extremely disappointed.

And yet you guys are talking about GM mode!

Am I just dense?

Oh man. That sucks. Ya, if you go to the Play tab at the very top of the main screen you'll see all the modes, and Be A GM is one of the smaller tiles at the bottom.

The home screen dynamically populates with whatever you play most, so if you tried HUT first, then it would show up there. Perhaps that's why you thought there was nothing else?

Regardless, it's in there.

This is the same as "season" mode right? Basically you pick a team and manage it and play the games?

Yea. You draft, make trades, sign free agents, deal with the AHL and NHL rosters... It's my favourite game mode. I just wish they would expand it a little more. Hopefully that's coming in NHL 16, but I doubt it.

The injury rates in BaGM are annoying. Don't sim any games, or you will end up with an injury every game you sim.

lol so true. I restared my be a GM recently with the new roster update. Managed to get McDavid first draft. I really like this years version of the mode but wish the trade deadline interface was still there. Seems so anti-climactic as is.

Found a way to score extra coins every day and packs every week. It requires the ultimate edition and xbox one. (not sure about ps4) pm for details.

so i've stopped playing HUT other than building my collection.. I don't know why, but there's something entertaining about budget shopping in the auction house and completing the cheaper team collections.

I just finished up buffalo, and landed one of the special pack (team of week i think i can't remember) Rick nash card. i got 400,000 coins for it on the auction house. This is a massive change for me, as i'm usually ever sitting 0-10k coins, never had more.

Any suggestions on what best to do with this sudden surplus of funds?

No kidding. Gaudreau is really missed in this game. That line-up is awsome. I've been using Wotherspoon on my div 1 team lately. I've decided to sell all my high end expensive cards and play with a 3 1/2 star team after a 5 game losing streak. So far I've won 5 in a row with the 3 star team.

you know what would be AWESOME.

Downloadable BeAGM files that is released after the trade deadline, which includes:
- updated roster files based on transactions from the deadline
- updated draft picks based on trades made
- updated player/prospect ratings
- Seasons progressed to deadline with accurate team standings

I typically start my beAgm after the deadline and it's the mode i play heaviest once the season comes to closer to a close. now's the time where the fans of at the very least half the teams in the league are throwing in the towel on this season and looking to build off what's there, given how the season has unfolded.

realize it's a pipe dream, but would be very useful.
