Pumped to hopefully see Poirier for a game or two. I remember being impressed by him in a pre-season game last season. Looking forward to seeing what another year plus of seasoning brings to his game at the NHL level.

They're at 23. Byron is hurt, Stajan is back home.

Poirier? I would also have him in the "Knocking on the door" group.

This is a list of players that contracts run out at the end of this season. Not all prospects.

I am looking at this Ferland call-up as a replacement for Glencross in case he gets traded earlier than March 2nd. Who is closer physically and how Glencross plays, Sven or Ferland? As for Poirer, he is replacing a speedy guy in Paul Byron so Flames decided to call up another speedy guy. So, with Byron on IR, Stajan on day-to-day thing and upcoming trade by Glencross, they called up a couple of guys to make they won't be shorthanded during this Eastern road trip.
Flames really wants to see most of their prospects get a chance to play in the NHL this season. It is nice to see Poirer getting a chance.

Depending on how he does on these next few games (if he plays). He may be a full time NHL'er

I'm hoping Wotherspoon is on the team next year. Hopefully the most they offer Diaz is a PTO in case Wotherspoon isn't ready. I would say get rid of Smid and/or Engelland and keep Diaz but I think it will be next to impossible to move those two. Maybe one gets buried in the AHL if Tyler is ready next year if management likes Diaz enough...

I think it'd be easier to trade Smid than it would be to trade Engelland.

I would put Arnold up to knocking on the door (He seems like a perfect replacement for Stajan in that particular role but there might not be room for him here), and swap Agostino with Elson (though realistically either would need a different team to stick in the near future at LW).
Either way, there are going to be some trades during the offseason to figure out this forwards logjam.

Jooris will be if he plays 18 more games (and yes that includes playoffs)

At what point does a player become waiver eligible? Is it based on number of games played? Age? This has always confused me.

I wouldn't bet on it. I was watching Treliving's interview the other day and when he was talking about our defensemen in ADK, he was pretty vehement how "young" they all still are. He's a total Ken Holland about this stuff.

It is based on the age of the player when he signs his first NHL contract and number of NHL games played
Quote:
Specifically, exemption is determined by a combination of the number of years under contract and games played. Once a player hits a threshold number of games played based on the player's age and the number of years since he signed his first NHL contract, he loses the exemption and must pass through waivers. The number of years and games is set down in a table in paragraph 13.4 of the CBA:

Bolded I could see back, everything else I don't see coming back. Nothing there that will have any negative impact.

Unlikely Ramo is back. Hiller is still under contract next year, and Ortio's contract becomes a one way, so that should be the tandem next season.
