Ferland has been brutal lately IIRC so interesting to see him called up. Will be fun to see what stage Poirier is at.

If the Flames have a GlenX deal in the works and Poirier plays well he could stick around for a while.

I can't wait to see what Poirier can bring to the big club during this Eastern road swing!

FWIW, even if Poirier plays out every last game with the Flames this season (23), he is still Calder eligible next year (<26 GP).

I think.... unless playoffs? I'm not sure if playoff games played count towards that.

Brutal because of his point production? , or just brutal all around game? He was probably brought up to add some much needed size upfront, he also plays with a little bit of an edge.

I also know that Raymond's wife is expecting during this road trip so I'm guessing that they want some bodies to be with the team for when Mason has to fly home as well.

I'm never talking about Ferland ever again. Lesson learned.

Brutal and listless all around game.

He has been better lately though.

And it isn't uncommon after concussions for a player to go through a really low period on the ice. Hopefully that's all it was and the Ferland that we're all hoping for re-appears.

My first thought when I saw that he was called up was that maybe they are doing this to re-ignite his fire.

Disagree - since your post he has 2 goals in 2 games and has been recalled.

He should pay you to ride his ass.

Unless the only reason for his recall is to practice with the big club, I can't see that as being likely. Hartley won't insert him into the middle of a playoff chase just because.

As it is, one of these guys won't be here longer than 2-3 games, as Stajan likely won't be gone long. And to get them both in, that means Jooris sits. Jooris' status with the team has grown uncertain in recent days.

The recent two goals notwithstanding, that has been my impression as well about Ferland's play from listening to the games.

I wonder if this is partly a "maintenance" call up to reassure Michael that he's on the right track. Unlucky way to end his last stint up here, so maybe a slight ego massage / re-focusing is in order.

I wonder how healthy he is right now -- I'm not sure if he's fully recovered from that wrist injury.

Yes my guess is Ferland up to showcase him for a game or two as he will be in the GlenX package. Hope not but way to many guys up now something has to be going down.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if you poked the bear a few more times to get him on a decent streak.

I've often wondered if they made a mistake in telling him he's here to stay back in December on that road trip.

Not that I'm against the player, but with so many guys pushing I couldn't get why he was secured to such an extent.
