I read this morning that the purpose of that terrorist group is to have an Islamic Sharia state in Somalia. I'm not sure how attacking West Edmonton Mall helps achieve that goal. Such an odd target.

Nobody wants to see the "destruction" of West Edmonton Mall. Sure, hate on it all you want whether you're a mall hater or an Edmonton hater, but "most people" would disagree with you.
Maybe use green text next time.

Wait, so Locke does this mean we are not meeting on Thursday to plot the destruction of Mulletville?

lol what's to hate? Do you have something against indoor amusement parks with awesome roller coasters? Do you dislike giant indoor water parks with world class water slides? Hate hitting a row of bars steps away from your hotel room?
I hate Edmonton as much as the next guy, but you're kidding yourself if you think the mall isn't awesome, particularly in the cold climate we live in. I always make it up there for a weekend every winter and have a blast. Not saying this applies to you, but anybody I've ever known in real life that doesn't like WEM is a lame, no-fun kinda guy.
It just sucks it's in Edmonton. Calgary has no indoor equivalent. Our pools are a giant joke compared to what the mullets get. And Calaway Park is super fun, but it's only open six months a year. COP rules and the mountains are great, obviously, but not that fun during a -30 cold snap.

Nothing to do with West Ed in particular, malls, any and all malls, are my personal hell.
And come on, West Ed is dump, half the retail bays are empty and I'm an adult, I dont go to waterparks or amusement parks and I'm certainly not going to some crappy bar in the middle of a mall to drink $9 beers and watch the Oilers.
If that place was razed to the ground tomorrow I wouldnt even notice.
The same could be said of South centre, Chinook, etc.

Have you been there lately?
I was at the water park in April 2014. A good chunk of the slides were closed, either not working or "no staff".
The mall is old, tired and a pale picture of its former self.

January 30. Spent the weekend. Went to Galaxyland. Ate on Bourbon Street. Walked many kms in absolute comfort. Did a little shopping. It was -20 or something outside and I cruised around all weekend in my t-shirt doing fun things. It is objectively awesome.
And half the stores are empty, Locke? Without a doubt, less than 5%.

The only bad change they've made in recent years is getting rid of the Segweys. Ripping around the mall at full throttle with my buddies all hung over before it opened was fun as hell.

I went last Christmas, everything was open. The half loop slide is pretty awesome and the Pod launches are pretty cool. The tube ride is kinda lame but outside of that it was good time.
I agree that everything outside the Waterpark and Galaxy Land is a dump from the 80's.

I went to the WEM waterpark with the family two weeks ago and only two of the slides were open. And the waves only came on for brief periods of time. Not in a hurry to go back, considering the cost.
OTOH, the Indiana Jones exhibit at the Telus Science Centre was frickin' awesome.

You should ask for your money back man. I would.
If I am paying top dollar for some sliding fun, I want ALL the slides to be open.
Such B.S.
When I went there in 2007, same story. A bunch of slides were closed.
When I went to Typhoon Lagoon in Disney world last month, All the slides in the Water Park were open. I was able to enjoy all the slides (except the ones I was too scared to go on).

Whether you agree with it or not, I'd be willing to bet the percentage of adult males who like Galaxyland and Calaway park (I felt I was too old for Calaway when I was 12) is very low.
A younger guy taking a girl, ok. Taking the kids, sure live through them, can be fun, as long as they're not being too bratty and it isn't a chore. But to do it by yourself? I'm guessing this isn't a thing for most guys.
More power to ya, if you like it though.

Wow this thread went from a terrorist threat to talking about the quality of amusement park rides and the stores in a mall.
Oh my god you people are valley girls.
Next thing you know you'll all be sitting around eating ice cream and talking about boys.
