Default Broken TV - thoughts?

Am I pooched?

My son knocked over our TV tonight. He was laying on a giant bouncy ball and thought he could roll back by using the TV Stand as a platform to push off. This rocked it pretty hard and knocked the TV off the stand. It did not land on him, he is fine. Physically it looks okay but when you turn it on, this happens:

Just bought it in November from Best Buy. Since they're closed now I thought I would come here to confirm my suspicions. Since it fell off the stand I'm assuming warranty won't cover it and I'm also assuming since the inside looks shattered that it will cost too much to repair. Am I right or am I being too negative?

Hope nobody got hurt.

That looks really neat though. Try to sell it to the city as art. Buy a new TV.

What kind of TV is it though? LCD/Plasma/LED? If you're handy, you could take it apart and see if the damage goes beyond the screen. It might be salvagable, or easy enough to fix if its just one thing.

There is/was somebody on here, Gobsgraham I believe, that has some TV repair skills.

Sell it to Pink Floyd for their next album cover.

Looks like LCD panel is broken.
Likely not worth the cost of repair. You might be able to sell the boards/power supply and recycle the carcass.

The new goggles also do nothing.

Yeah look at the pattern, definitely looks like the panel is broken. I'd be shocked if the cost to fix it was less than the cost to replace it.

did you pay by credit card? if so, they may have a warranty that covers this.

Not sure if it still applies but try checking with Sony:

Sony, without looking at it, says "Oh, that only happens with misuse."

Le sigh.

I'll have to check with my credit card. I'm pretty sure I have the warranty on it. Maybe they can help out.

I doubt warranties cover kids being kids.

Use it as an excuse to go crazy and buy a bigger OLED tv.

He was talking about credit card warranty- which often covers accidental damage.

As an aside, we have banned those rubber ball bouncers from our house. Daughter was bouncing and face planted into the coffee table. I could see the TV being in danger.

When balls are outlawed, only outlaws will have balls.
