Wow, that Minny deal.... I am not a fan at all of Reinhart. I think that is a huge steal for the Wild.

I gotta agree with Avs, both deals are quite a steal for the veteran GMs.

At least in the second deal if Petan meets expectations and Dekeyser continues his growth then you have two good players for Simmonds. Klesla is a head scratcher for sure (as Drury18 says!), but that could be a function of a new GM not fully realizing the value that players have when they go to Europe for good. I'm hardly one to comment on that though because I've made some terrible acquisitions because I just liked a particular player didn't really take the "ratings divergence" into account!
I don't know about that Minnesota deal though...

Reinhart is terrible. On his best day he is gudbrandson level of bad...I can't see trading one of the best young goalies in the world for him.
Simmonds deal is closer, but still prefer that for the pens.
Bold moves for sure.

Not sure I like either trade for the Sharks and also surprised the Sharks traded cap with Simmonds when that was a deal breaker in trade talks with me.

Surprisingly no, cash had to be even because she was unwilling to send any. I tried to explain how Cheese works but I dont think it was comprehended.

have to agree with the other guys here, I think San Jose gets the shorter end of both deals. Not a huge fan of Reinhart and Gibson is a blue chip G prospect, so given the importance of good goalies in the sim, I don't necessarily like it a lot for the Sharks. And Simmonds ... well, let's say I would have paid more for him. At least Dekeyser and Petan are decent young assets.
On a positive note, I like that Drury is that active right from the start!

She sent the cash in the Phillips deal yesterday. So once cheese was explained it she started moving it.

She watches the ahl more than any of us abd therefore probably has a better idea of how good Reinhart actually is. Dude was the fourth overall pick calling him terrible is silly

I'll chime in on my deal. I was very slow to move forward on this so that she could process all the offers she got on Simmonds. A lot of which she said were no name AHLers. Teams had plenty of time to make offers. Simmonds was on the trade block for over a week. Any team could have stepped up and beat my offer. No body did. Dekeyser has been playing top pairing in Detroit for the past two seasons and is on a great 3 year deal and Petan is a solid prospect. I'm not getting into it much more than that other to say that teams had lots of time to step up and beat my offer. At one stage I told her to take another offer but the other GM changed their mind.

No he's not terrible but we all know what goalies go for in this league especially a young stud goalie on a sweet contract.

Gibson isn't a starter yet. So give me a comparable deal where a stud goalie prospect has been moved. Better yet state what you would have given up.

He's a semi-starter now and has a lot more potential to be a really good #1.
Not to mention this cripples the SJ franchise who has Dan Ellis and Ben Scrivens as their 2 goalies now. Makes no sense for Sj to be dealing Gibson.
I'm not going to get into what I would offer since I never made an offer cause he was never on the trade block.
Since you asked for a comparable I did some digging around. You can look at Varlamov, who was traded from the Wild to Canes in the summer of 2011.
To Canes: Varlamov
To Wild: Del Zotto, Fehr, 17th overall pick, Jared Knight
In the summer of 2011 Varlamov had previously played 59 games in 3 seasons so not a starter then, he was traded to Avs in the NHL. Del Zotto had established himself as one of the better offensive young dman (37 point rookie season and 11 point lockout shortened season). Fehr while battling injuries was still trending upwards. Knight was one of the better prospects in Bruins system and obviously the 17th.
I don't care you got a deal but as a new GM, Drury could've gotten more and puts the franchise in bad situation with no goaltender moving forward.

Adam Larrson was also 4th overall and how's he looking? Of all people, you should know draft positions means nothing. Silly :/
I hope Drury is just smarter then us all. I'll happily eat my words on Reinhart but I just don't see it.

Thing is I did make an offer for Simmonds 9 days ago (a pretty strong opening offer IMO), but was told the desired return was a center ... so I'm a bit surprised that he moved for two defensemen and a prospect, that's all

Larsson is looking good since the goalie change.
Draft position is a gauge of player potential. And it's not like it was 5 years ago.
Heck in the hf prospect rankings he's ranked one spot ahead of Gibson
