I've seen him a lot this year and really like him. I was at a game recently which the Islanders lost. The score was 0-0 after 6 minutes. McDonald had already made 14 saves. My buddy said: "we don't need a defence, we have a goalie." From the way he plays, you can't tell the score. He's unflappable and just wants to stop the next shot.

I said/thought he sucked at the start of the season. I will now gladly eat crow for it, love having him in the pipeline.

I've actually been meaning to post about Mason. He's had an excellent season so far, stats wise. He is in the top of pretty much every category for goalies in the Q. Live to see that, and hopefully he keeps it up.
The only thing that even remotely concerns me is he only has 1 shutout on the season, but I'm not familiar with the Islanders, or any other Q team for that matter.

I don't think there are many shutouts in the Q. Defense isn't a strong point in that league

That could be the understatement of the century.

Klimchuk with 3 assists today in a 5-2 victory over Prince Albert.
20 points in the last 14 games. Season total so far is 53 points in 45 games.

I'm reserving judgement. But yeah, he's looking better. Which is good.
I have no problem being wrong. I also have no problem changing my opinions on things I am wrong about. It was my initial assessment. I will await further proof before I change my mind completely.
But I do hope i was wrong.

Second intermission. Carroll so far has not impressed. Bad retaliation penalty, first one out of the zone/last one back or not at all.. Looking for fights though

One nice tip on the PP.
On the flip side, Greg Chase looks pretty good. Yuck

Klimchuk 1G 2A last night in a 6-4 win over Kootenay. That's 11 points over a 7 game point streak.
Now has 28 points in his last 20 games, and over this stretch that is a higher PPG than last season. Don't think he has levelled off like some have suggested recently.

He probably hasn't shown the offensive upswing you want, but I think he's doing fine. He doesn't have the offensive potential of Poirier so you don't expect big numbers. There is also the fact this is his 4th year in juniors, some guys tend to "level off" after so many years.
I remember concerns over Ryan Getzlaf when he went from 75 points in 49 games as an 18 year old to 54 points in 51 games as a 19 year old.
If he's a Brendow Morrow type player, it's a big win.
