That's cool if an overly simplistic view on things is good enough for you, but I like to analyze and discuss the game and plays etc. and the PGT is a good place to do so.
And yes there was a missed assignment. So there's that.

Flames played well, deserved a better fate.
Take the point and move on.
I love Lance Bouma.
I want to punch Dubnyk in the face.
That's about it.

Doom and gloom away. I get a kick out of seeing you bragging about the Flames under the same username on other forums and then making comments like the ones above when we lose a few in a row.

Posting on a hockey forum makes me an intense fan? I haven't changed my CP browsing habits much over the years aside from mostly ignoring the Fire on Ice side of things when all the Flames inspired was apathy. It's nice to actually be able to discuss the team in a relevant setting in February again after so long. If they make the playoffs awesome, but if they don't then I'll jump on a feel good story bandwagon to get my hockey fix (Preds are fun to watch)
I'm surprised you find it so fascinating that not every Flames fan is overflowing with optimism. Most people I talk to that aren't on this forum are cautiously optimistic at best with this team after 6 years of no playoffs

There's a difference between not-being-over-flowing with optimism and what you do. Like I said, those posts a page back were from 2 mins of digging. There are dozens upon dozens of them with that tone of futile hopelessness over years. At first you pretended you don't do that, now you're playing it off like you're just not optimistic. I'm not interested in discussing this any further, but I'll finish by saying you have blinders on to how you come across on here if you actually believe you're just "not overflowing with optimism".

Little disappointed, that Wild forecheck was stellar.
WE could definitely improve on our stick to stick passing, we have not been great especially when under fire trying to clear the zone, urghhh. The usual slow start and behind the eightball is daunting already. Not sure we deserved a better fate, we have a way of making other goal tenders look good lol..... Still luv watching these kids, refreshing..........

I was hoping for 5 points out of this homestand, we're already there with one game left. Anaheim looks beatable lately, so getting a win on Friday isn't out of the question either.
Also, Lance Frickin' Bouma... this season is filled with great stories, but his emergence has been my favourite. It's hard not to love this guy. Someone a few PGT's ago mentioned they see a little Gelinas in him come playoff time...I see him as a Claude Lemieux. No one in the league would be happy to see him lining up across from them. They know they're in for a long game. Never takes a shift off, always finishes his check and would dive head first to block a shot if it was a 4 goal game with 30 second left. That kind of effort is infectious on a team too. The scoring touch this year is just a bonus.

T-shirt cannons are serious business. I was at the other end of the building and thought she was getting murdered, but at least that would have shut her up after a little while.
I know it's already been said many times, but this was far from a snoozer. I have literally almost fallen asleep at games against the Wild before. This was far and away the most intense and exciting game against the Wild I've ever attended.

Wondering what everyone else thinks about this... Is the first period struggles mostly due to goaltending/momentum? Seems like ramo and especially hiller always allow one of the first 3 or 4 shots of the game to go in. Huge momentum killer. Even when the flea start the first few minutes strong and create some chances it seems like the first half-decent scoring chance for the other team always goes in. Maybe hiller and ramo aren't as focused early in the game.
This team seems to feed off of momentum and is also a victim of it at times. That would explain why they are so good at comebacks... Once they score one goal, they gain a ton of momentum and keep scoring. At the same time, when the flames' goalies let in an early goal every game it takes the flames a period or two to gain the momentum back.

I would not classify your posts as anything approaching "cautiously optimistic." "Cautiously optimistic" is recognising that the first periods are a persistent and irritating problem for this team. It's a problem that could hurt their playoff chances, but hasn't had a tremendous impact up to this point. I am "cautiously optimistic" that despite the slow starts, the Flames will probably still make the playoffs.
By contrast, this is what you said:

I disagree. If the Flames can't figure out how to improve their first period play, they will probable continue to float around the playoff bubble, yet very realistically could still make the playoffs. I sure hope they improve, but you won't see me pronouncing them dead if the trend continues.
I think what people find aggravating is your rather persistent habit of passing judgement on the fate of the team whenever there is a wrinkle, despite the fact that this has been a fantastically enjoyable season. It's off-putting.

Given the no-show in the first (again), we should probably count ourselves lucky to get a point. OTOH, given how the last 40 went, we should count ourselves unlucky not to get two.
Dubnyk will fall back to earth sooner or later.

I thought we were by far the better team the second half of the game but there slow starts are very concerning, as every game seems more like a playoff game. Big game Friday.

That chick was 2 rows behind me, it was pure agony for the longest time. Pretty sure Harvey told her to chill out, the people around were all shaking their heads, it was a bit much for a flipping shirt.

They're not going to make the playoffs if they can't get up for the first period. Not a chance. These comebacks are actually unsustainable.
Johnny played great and so did the rest of the team after the 1st but they're going to need to get their #### together.

As I read this thread and every post on it . Sounds like there's a lot of negative about Johnny . It's to bad that it happened the way it did but what the hell ? #### happens ,there's many other games that you could criticize any other player as well. I hope he gets traded to a team that will appreciate him . With Mony , Hoody and even Gio not passing to him , when he's wide open ......it shows that they don't want him to score . Just stating facts here.
