He saved the game 2 nights ago against Boston with an intense backcheck. He plays one of the most determined games along the boards and is a great backchecker and one of our best PK guys. Hockey isn't always about the first 3 categories of the stat line, Jooris does a lot of the little things well and they seemingly go unnoticed a lot of the time. I think you may have forgotten that he is an undrafted walk on in his NHL rookie season and his 2nd full pro year.

It does appear to be the issue with everyone else.
I cant say anything "negative" without 5 of you following the post without any useful contributions.

Johnny's banked a few off other players himself (Drew Doughty says hi) so I guess turnabout and all that.
As someone said, this is a bit of a balance for the lucky goal last game - just wish it was the Bruins who took the extra point and not Minnie if the Flames were going to give one away.

I definitely have not forgotten that.
Some of you need to remember how mediocre he was in the AHL last year. He had a hot streak earlier, but hes not that player.

Oh well, Winnipeg is tanking. We just gotta dodge LA and Dallas. Winnipeg might finish below 90 points.

I think it's fair to start point out errors now rookie or not. It's not like this is his 5th game. But rather than destructive criticism, constructive is better, which I'm sure Hartley or whoever will go through with him.

Meh, the only team I'm certain will bottom out of the race is Dallas after losing Seguin. Everyone else is fair game and it's gonna be a tight race

And yet if you dare point out a glaring negative about this team you're a harbinger of doom. I'm extremely happy about the Flames season so far, who wouldn't be? But to be so close to a playoff spot and seeing them make the same mistakes over and over again is frustrating. Yet I'll still take this over every season since '09, being invested-yet-frustrated with a team is still better than total apathy which is what I felt until the Iginla trade finally signaled a change
I think I'll just stop watching the first half of Flames games from here on out and only tune in when they decide to start playing, that way I can ignore the weaknesses of the team and just be happy when they pull out another miracle comeback like everyone else

They're still 4-1-2 in their last 7 games...
Hopefully losing Perreault slows them down a bit.

Except he was playing well tonight as a whole. One of the best players on the ice.
Calling out a bad play is fine. Making it sound like it was the whole game is not, but that's more of the same from you.

Why does last year have anything to do with this year? I'm sure he vastly improved. I don't think it's an issue to point out things in Jooris' play, but to jump around screaming about sending him down to the Addy is a bit much, no?

How is Winnipeg tanking?
Sharks look poised to fallout but the Kings and Wild are coming in hot

Again, the system down in the AHL is full of so many young players, Josh was one of those players last year, a rookie then too, and he ended up having a strong first campaign. I think we need to stop having such an all or nothing mentality with our guys, especially the younger guys like Jooris. Is Bouma that player?? He truly looks like he is trending towards that now as he begins to hit peaks. Will Bouma regress/fall back to earth a bit, almost guarenteed he will, does that mean he isn't the offensive power forward he is right now?? No. It just means players hit peaks and valleys through out their career and right now Jooris is in a valley offensively just like Bouma is hitting a peak. The encouraging sign is that Jooris isn't a liability out there and he is continuing to play a smart 200 foot game. I think his offense will come back though, he's only got his entire career to find it again.
