Kendry Morales signs with KC - 2 years, $17M! How the hell did another team not pay more? Solid DH, and in this market $8.5M is a steal. Damn.

The City of St. Petersburg has vetoed a deal that would let the owner look for a new stadium location in the Tampa Bay area in exchange for compensation to the city if they break lease. Expect the relocation rhetoric to increase significantly.

Am I completely missing something with Wil Myers? I thought this guy was a future all-star. Why did Tampa Bay deal him and two others to San Diego for just a decent catcher in Rene Rivera? What am I missing here? Off the top it appears TB got hosed.

Padres are pushing all of their chips in this offseason. Acquired Justin Upton too - what are they going to do with all of these corner outfield bats?
Have to feel good for that fanbase as ownership is really going for it. The Pads have been basement dwellers in the NL West for what feels like forever now.

Jake Peavy is back with the Giants on a 2 year $24M contract, pending a physical being done today in Arizona. I liked what he did down the stretch, and he seems like a good teammate. I hope he's better than he was in the playoffs.

Padres also flipped Hanigan for Middlebrooks. and looks like they are bringing in Justin Upton. Totally different team this year with new management. I think that it would surprise nobody if they now trade Quentin, Venable, Maybin or Smith. Busy team.

Yeah the Padres/Dodgers/Athletics have been very active in reshaping their roster. All in good ways... considering their respective needs/wants.
Adding that second wildcard is really pushing teams to actively attempt to compete it seems.

Is Panda going to DH, or play third too?

With Papi, I imagine 99% of Pandas starts will be at 3B. Once Papi retires, maybe but Panda doesn't have a lot of power.

They'll need some place for him to play. I figure he moves to 1B maybe as soon as next year. In spite of the fatness Sandoval is surprisingly athletic so I figure he can hold down 1B maybe for the duration of his contract. No sense putting a monied guy at DH if he can field a position when you can probably fill the Ortiz gap with some other decent aging slugger on a short term deal.

He does have power, but his numbers are reduced playing in the pitchers park in SF.

I believe the plan is for him to play the majority of games at 3rd.
