Steve Montador passes away at age 35

I recall Darryl saying how hard it was to trade him to Florida. He really loved the guy but felt it was best for him to go to a team where he could get more minutes. It was kind of a tough love trade.

I remember Montador suiting up as a forward a few times. He was such a hard working guy that you just wanted to root for.

Pat Burke is right. Cluster suicides, but also there is an increase in fatal accidents in groups who identify themselves as peers with victims of suicudes, murders and accidents. I'd encourage anyone who is finding themselves effected by this to talk with someone, the dark side of our minds is powerful.

I can't comment on the circumstances as I don't know them but sometimes it's not always easy. Far too often it's a product of the environment. I've seen far too often people can be inconsiderate. I really hope this sheds light on the fact that everyone is special, anyone can feel depressed at anytime.

I was pretty bummed out when Sutter disassembled that 2004 team. Monty wasn't exactly Rob Blake out there but he was heart-and-soul.

In many ways Monty was that 2004 team personified. Great heart and soul player and proved he belonged in the NHL. RIP Steve Montador, thanks for the memories.

Very sad to learn of Steve Montador's death. Long before the NHL, I knew him as a young baseball player, and he knew me as his coach.
