Rich Hammond @Rich_Hammond
Darryl Sutter was very emotional talking about Steve Montador. They had stayed close, even in recent weeks.

James Mirtle @mirtle
On Montador: There's an updated report from police it was natural causes with further investigation coming. If so I apologize to his family.

That's why you don't provide "details" if they are speculative at best. Just wait for the authorities to do their job.

James mirtle is a hack for reororing it's a suicide when it wasn't even considered. Apology isn't even acceptable.

This was pretty shocking reading it on the tsn app. He was on the fan a few times and sounded like a smart guy. That goal was one of of my favourite from the run.

Pro sports does need to do a better job of working with athletes transitioning to the ordinary world after their careers are over.

Tough to read

I wonder what the rate of suicide among ex-pro-athletes is compared to the rest of the population.

With most of these threads I usually think "meh, sucks but I barely knew about the guy." This one kinda shocked me, he was one of the great stories of '04 and still pretty young.

especially with something like that, how you go first with that without knowing 100% is completely irresponsible

Wow, this one threw me for a bit of a loop. Such a young guy. Shocking. I'm kind of surprised how emotional I am about this news. So sad.

And James Mirtle took a massive hit to his reputation for me today. What he did was borderline disgusting. It's one thing to try to break hockey moves/trades but trying to throw a dart at a dartboard when it comes to someone's death is inexcusable.

Shocked and saddened. He was on the Fan 960 last year and was a treat to listen to.

Just spoke with Marty Gelinas ...who was fighting back tears talking about Montador. Said he was family to him.

He whiffed on his article about sharks and burish a few weeks back. He didn't corroborate. Desperate to get a scoop and be first at something.

Awful news. Unknown heart condition maybe? It's not typical for someone his age to just pass in his sleep.

Sad news indeed. Heard his name mentioned on Fan960 just last week.

I'm always interested in hearing about ex-flames players but especially the ones from 89 and 04.

Shocking to hear the news.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Horrible, horrible news. So young ... what a tragedy. Condolences to family and friends.

James Myrtle should be ashamed of himself.

If so... really Mirtle, you can't just apologize?

RIP to Monty, gone way too early
