The crowd loved it.
And for you romantics... she said yes.

I love this Team Edward Hiller vs Team Jacob Ramo dynamic.
Go Team Ramo!
I just want to see what we have with him before he's gone. He's younger and in my opinion has more potential than Hiller. Having both is nice, but that Ortio guy might have something to say about that for next year.

Just chiming in to the discussion now, but holy hell - what a game. That was the closest to playoff atmosphere as I've felt in the dome in years. May have just been my section or area, but that was loud and intense.

How is no one blaming the second goal on Giordano? Commits to a guy who is already covered then skates past his own net, leaving his guy and the puck in front of the wide open cage. Brain dead play. Yeah, Brodie's pass was ill-advised, but he got back and had caught up with his man.

It was Gio's fault for not tying Vey up on the rebound and Raymond's fault for not covering for Brodie's pinch.

Why are people so obsessed with picking someone to blame on a goal?
Brodie made a bad decision. Raymond didn't cover. Ramo gave up a rebound. Giordano skated past Vey and left him alone.
Goals are usually the result of more than one thing.

Has nothing to do with a super lame way to propose.
Besides, I don't think you and I agree on anything anyway.

Ramo has earned another start. But I think you will find yourself in a significant minority in terms of believing Ramo is the better goalie. And I think Hartley falls into the majority opinion.

What's with all the negativity guys? Flames beat the nuckleheads last night and deserved the win. Monahan with two goals and bouma continues to impress. Oh... And Bennett is almost healthy. It's a great day to be a flames fan!

I also think there was certainly politics involved due to Hiller's (make the cap floor contract), most of this was in play earlier in the year. Ramo wasn't going to be given the same respect should he go on a tear that Hiller would have.
But in this game, I don't really want to see a defacto #1 goalie making 65 starts anymore. There is a lot more value in a 50/32 arrangement, where guys keep the other sharp. When one of them hasn't sat the past 5+ games, I really don't care who starts - we get a good effort most nights out.
Honestly, in year 2 of a rebuild I don't want this roster 'coddled' with elite goaltending, I want the eternal mindset of outscoring, not playing safe towards stupidity and actually trying to increase leads to be the focus.
Brent Sutter hockey would have seen the team deflate once Vancouver scored that 2nd goal and likely lose the game. Brent would have talked for 15 minutes about how that play started (bad idea by Brodie) and that we can't afford these kinds of things - if we want to win. Neglecting that there was an entire 3rd period of opportunity ahead. "In this league you can't give away leads like that vs. good teams!"
Hartley sees the bad play, but focuses more on driving the team to a successful finish and has them playing aggressive, but smart (for a young team).

And I agree with Resolute on this...if Brodie doesn't make a completely unacceptable play to start this, we aren't even having this discussion.

The D pinching on offense has been a hallmark of the team this season, and it's been very very successful. Brodie made a solid play going to retrieve the puck and yes, his no look pass was baaaad, but Raymond should've been the forward covering for Brodie on the pinch to prevent the two on one. But of a misplay by both guys, but no one plays a perfect game night in and out. Even guys like Keith, Lidstrom, Chara, etc. make mistakes, just happy we got the W.

Okay dude, I was probably the guy defending Ramo the hardest last night, but your statement is off. Hiller has been great for us this season, he's not what I'd call elite by any means but he's been better than average. I feel Ramo takes way too much flak here and deserves more starts. He is a solid 1B scenario goalie, but stating it's fact that he is better than Hiller is nuts. I agree that he deserves the next start though.

Good thing we know this for a fact. Honestly that is such a load of garbage that it kind of disgusts me how some Flames fans just can't move on from the past.

Two games in a row that they have held the Sedins scoreless.
Mikael Backlund (with Bouma and Jones last night)

No coincidence the result was two wins. The Canucks don't typically fare well when the Sedans get shut out and the Flames have long made them look like superstars hence the poor record against them over the years. With the Sedins aging and the Flames young players improving I would hope the Flames can soon turn the tables on these guys.

Google will be a good friend on that, should be easy to find.
Every 3rd post-game interview I ever heard from Brent would talk specifically to getting caught pinching, breakdowns in the attacking zone. It's not that it's wrong, its that his coaching was geared towards 100% removal of defensive lapse or plays that could cause outnumbered situations against.
And that is fine when you coach a team in a tournament that is 3x more talented than your opponent and all you have to do is reign in the stupid plays and bring in defensive responsibility.
But not in the NHL.
