Problem with Ramo is he really takes a long time to warm up, get his head/confidence back into game shape.

He'd likely be fine in a platoon where he would see action every 3 games (at least), but Hartley likes running hot and Hiller and his abilities are better suited for that system.

In a vacuum, I think Ramo is slightly better, but this issue makes Hiller more valuable to the team.

I'm glad I am not the only one sick of seeing him trash talk the Flames every time they win, he just cannot bring himself to say anything nice. He some times doesn't even mention the game to save himself having to speak about a flames win. He is not the only one on there though, it seems most of the bloggers that do the ramblings always say the flames are going to fail even when they keep winning.

Great win by the boys. Im sick and tired of loosing to the Canucks and it was a beautiful thing to watch the boys outwork and earn the win instead of having to relay on a 1st star performance by the goalie. Huge win on a night where the OOT did us no good.

Much as I like the win, this is one where I felt it might just as easily have gone the other way. The Flames gave the Canucks too many odd-man rushes even with the lead, and generally I think were a bit of a mess at times. Positioning was off a lot. Guys were not covering for each other as well as they should have, and passing game had lots of problems. Which was also true in against LA, so that's kind of worrisome.

That's not to say there wasn't a lot of good things too, it's not like we somehow stole the game. But to me that was .500 hockey, and this team can do better.

Then again the Canucks are obviously a tough opponent for us. And I think you could again tell that as a team we're just kind of green. Games are getting tougher mentally and physically, and it's not easy to respond to that as a group.

On a partially related note, it's nice to have faith in the coaches and players. I trust their motivation, I trust their strategies, I trust their work ethic, I trust their smarts. They might have bad games or bad stretches, but overall I feel that what ever this teams ceiling is, they'll get there, and that's all I can ask.

I've never been so relaxed watching sports

The Flames have now won the season series with every team in the Pacific except Anaheim, and it's still possible to win that one too with 2 regulation wins.
  • ANA = 1-2-0 / CGY 2 pts, ANA 5 pts (2 home remain)
  • ARI = 4-0-0 / CGY 8 pts, ARI 0 pts (1 home remain)
  • EDM = 4-0-0 / CGY 8 pts, EDM 1 pts (1 road remain)
  • LAK = 3-1-0 / CGY 6 pts, LAK 4 pts (1 home remain)
  • SJS = 4-1-0 / CGY 8 pts, SJS 3 pts (0 remain)
  • VAN = 2-1-1 / CGY 5 pts, VAN 4 pts (0 remain)

Even if the Flames miss the playoffs. I'm walking away from this season happy solely based on this post.

How many times did we say this last season with all those one goal loss games?

It happened more times than it should've last year against the Flames and this year the coin flips on the Flames side more than their opponents.

I'll take the W's any way they can get them. Because lord knows the Flames should've been on the flip side of some of those one goal losses last season.

Well of course you take the win for now. I just don't think that level of play is going to win enough games in the long run, or at least they'd need more help from other teams than they're likely to get. We're up against some very tough competition.

But I'm not too worried at this point.

Great win tonight, but closer than it should have been. Miller stood on his head at times in this game, whereas Ramo gave up at least one softie, but that's to be expected when you haven't started a game in a month. He came up pretty big a couple times in the 3rd, so you have to give him credit.

Sickened by the Sedins tonight. That first dive should be suspension worthy. That's as blatant as it gets and if they're not at least fined I'll consider that new public shaming system completely useless. Not only that, but later when Stajan shoved one of them in front of the net "knocking him down" he goes and pulls the feet out from Stajan after the play is over. Not only dirty, but just as dangerous as a slough foot. Even though the Canucks have a few more respectable players on their team, as long as they employ the Sedins, Burrows, Bieksa, and guys like Kassian, they will get zero respect from me. Maybe it's too late. Maybe the cheap antics are now endemic to the team. So be it. The fans of that team match the personality of the players, and vice-versa. Edmonton might have a more historical rivalry, but I'd rather beat the Canucks any day of the week.

How was the second goal in any way on Rämo? He made an excellent save on the initial shot, but no goalie is going to get to that rebound.

It has already been mentioned, but Rämo needs to play in order to play well. When he was playing regularly in November, he was stellar. I thought he was good tonight, and looked better and better as the game wore on. I for one am hoping to see him get a few more starts over the course of the final two months—it's good for the team.

Good thing about hockey is that it is not figure skating or diving...no pun intended canuck fans (ok so maybe I lied)..... You do not get any points added nor deducted depending on how great the performance. You get 0, 1 or 2 points and move on. Flames did what they had to do.... It is now part of our history....I am sure that is how Anaheim goes about with all those 1 goal wins....Now just repeat on Monday against Beantown...

Most goalies would have kicked that rebound to the corner, and/ or stopped sliding across the crease after the save. He made an awkward first save, lost track of the puck and lost his net.

Yeah, lets focus on blaming Ramo despite making a fantastic first save and having no support by his backcheckers on the rebound. Lets not focus on the atrocious peewee hockey pass by Brodie that caused that entire play.

Yes there were other issues on the play as well, I was just responding to the poster saying "in what way would that ever be Ramo's fault" or whatever he said.

Only one person could've made a mistake? The first save wasn't fantastic. It was wide angle and from far enough out it wasn't dangerous
