Both their Facebook profiles seem fairly "normal". Hers has more political pictures shared, but nothing really "extreme", imo.

With the killing of 3 Mounties last year in Moncton and now this Halifax plot, I feel that the moderate Maritimers are not doing enough to stop the violence.

No details yet so this is somewhat premature...but does anyone else think that 'home grown' depressed white people are just as dangerous as any external terrorist group?
That's kind of the ridiculous part of the whole thing:

If it's a white kid/man/person doing the shooting--they're 'disturbed' 'loners' or something like that. If a black man argues with police, he's a thug. If a brown person is involved in a crime, he's a terrorist. But when it's an affluent white kid, no, no, he was just depressed or disturbed, regardless of how high the body count is.

Call a spade a spade; these three were wannabe terrorists, the kid who shot up the theater in Aurora was a terrorist, the guy who killed all those people in California was a terrorist, etc.

Just because they aren't brown or wielding a pipe bomb doesn't mean they aren't terrorists. It's just that in this day and age, America only considers it "terrorism" if the person behind it is an Arab.

You do have a point. But terrorism and mass murder are not the same thing. Terrorism also has a political goal.

You could argue someone like Elliott Rodger was a terrorist, as he had an anti-woman agenda. Even then he was being psychiatrically treated for mental illness including personality disorders.

However the Aurora shooting didn't appear to have any agenda and does not fit the definition of terrorism.

There are also plenty of accepted cases of white terrorists. They fit mid of the Timothy McVeigh mold though.

The difference is the motive for the shooting. Was it to achieve a political goal or were you nuts. It can be a blurred line.

No, all humans are just as dangerous as the next. Humans are the most dangerous species on the earth no matter the race or religion.

Disagree...humans with bad catchy ideas (Nazis, Boko Haram, etc), or who are weak minded and unable to think for themselves are more hazardous than ethical ones with a mind of their own.

Agreed. The Maritimes may not be dangerous, but it certainly isn't peaceful and friendly like the sterotypes say.

You can be a terrorist, mentally disturbed, depressed and a criminal all at once.

Stereotypes affect which side is highlighted.
