More. Folks rarely see them coming until they do what they do. They also usually act out against places they are very familiar with, so can cause a lot of damage in a short time.

If something would have happened today in Halifax it likely could have been very ugly especially if they hit the Hockey Day in Canada festivities. There will probably be a lot of people in a concentrated area.

My facebook has blown up over how unsafe Halifax has become. I had one friend who now lives in Vancouver say he's happy he's in Vancouver as it's far safer than the Maritimes (yes, Vancouver's lower eastside is far safer than the mean streets of Summerside).

Isn't the police preventing crime the exact definition of safe?

I grew up in Halifax and lived there for 25 years. It's a hell of a lot safer than Winnipeg or Edmonton, the only two other cities I've lived in. Maritimers love to exaggerate.

Halifax does have one of the highest murder rates in the country.

Halifax area is dangerous. When I lived in Dartmouth there was alot of gun crime. Well, I shot my neighbour with an air rifle when I was 4. He fired first.

Didn't lose an eye.

Seriously, so glad this was stopped. Really hate these people that think it is okay to murder people.

Sounds like a Columbine type scenario to me so far. Could have a political motive though.

I'm not saying Halifax is the safest city in the country. My point is that this incident doesn't exemplify the dangers of Halifax but actually that the police are doing a good job and it's improving.

On top of that it's foolish to associate an entire region based on on small part of it.

It'd be like me saying "Edmonton is a joke therefore Calgary sucks"

Sounds like a bunch of social outcast losers, who think that nobody likes them and their life is terrible because of the people around them.

In otherwords wastes of oxygen.

People like this are why hard labor sentences shouldn't have been lost.
