No one is talking about this stand alone Star Wars film(s)? Apparently spin-offs from the new trilogy they are currently making.http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...e-movie-768582

		| British actress Felicity Jones has reportedly been tapped as the female lead in the Gareth Edwards Star Wars standalone film.
The Oscar-nominated The Theory of Everything actress is in talks with Disney and Lucasfilm for the role, which hasn’t been revealed yet, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Actresses including Orphan Black lead Tatiana Maslany and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara had been reading and testing for the role last week, when Chris Weitz was hired as the film’s screenwriter to replace Gary Whitta, who wrote the first draft.

Little else is known about the project, which will be the first of multiple Star Wars standalone films, but The Hollywood Reporter also reports that Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul and Wrath of the Titan‘s Edgar Ramirez are in talks for the male lead role.

The film is due out Dec. 16, 2016.
 |
Sounds like they are trying to expand the Star Wars brand like they are did with Marvel.

Originally the stand alone movies were suppossed to be about existing characters. A Boba Fett film, A younger Han Solo film. Personally I would like an Admiral Ozzel stand alone film (It could have a monty python theme song)
But since they're doing nu-canon and new EU, they can basically create any kind of character that they want.

There is a serious line up for Summer releases already.... but I'd be happy for this |

I think we posted those 'leaks' somewhere in this thread and the majority of them seemed very possible. They formed a movie that I would definitely pay to see over and over.

I'd be down with SW coming out this summer. But given that JP/JW is just as sacred to me and should rightfully be able to poach the box office for a good month to ensure another sequel, I think an August release would be most ideal.
Trying to think of what else is supposed to release that month.. I don't believe anything significant. Could make this summer wayyy more exciting.

Lol. If Star Wars comes out on any day in the summer, even August long, it will still have the biggest opening of any movie the entire year.

Yeah, the Batman movies really struggled with their July release dates.

If only they had released the Back to the Future movies in December, they could have had a real viable franchise on their hands.

Dude, what? The don't call them summer blockbusters every year just because it sounds nicer.

Studios jostle for a summer weekend they think they can own. May, June, July and even sometimes in August are the season for big movies.

They could release this in Black and White with no audio the day after the apocalypse and it would still break every record known to man.

If this isn't filmed with marionette actors, I'm out.
